Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Yarbro.
Lisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my career in the hospitality industry in the early 90’s. I owned a fine dining restaurant in Baton Rouge, LA. In the mid 90’s, I moved to Texas and began my hotel career. I worked my way up to Director of Food and Beverage at the Radisson Hotel & Golf Club in Denton. In the late 90’s, I took a position as the Director of Sales and Marketing at the Radisson Beach Resort in Vero Beach, FL. I kicked off the Millennium back in Texas as the Event Planner for the Dallas Market Center Venues. In 2001, I began my wedding planning career at Marie Gabrielle Gardens in Uptown Dallas. I was blessed to do over 300 weddings during my 15 years there. It was alway my dream to have my own wedding planning business. In 2016, I started Weddings by Lisa Yarbro where I am currently creating memorable events.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Owning your own business definitely has its struggles. You really have to manage your incoming revenue for the slower months. Although wedding planning is a year-round career, it is cyclical with peak seasons in the spring and Fall months.
Please tell us about Weddings by Lisa Yarbro.
Weddings by Lisa Yarbro is a boutique wedding and event planning company offering full service and month of wedding planning. We also specialized in corporate events and galas. What sets us apart from others?
Since we are a boutique wedding planning company, you will be hiring the owner of the company to help plan your wedding and take care of you on the wedding day.
I am most proud of the joy I bring to my bride and grooms on their wedding day. They put there trust in me and really enjoy their day worry free.
One of my most memorable compliment was from a bride that said: “Lisa you gave us our dream wedding and sent us out into the world to start our lives together. There are no words that can express our appreciation for you.”
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing! I feel the career path I have taken has prepared me for success in my wedding planning company. While I have enjoyed all of my past career opportunities, nothing compares to wedding planning. I have to say wedding planning is still my dream job and I am living my dreams!
