Meet Rosalind Prather of Trusting Connections Nanny Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosalind Prather.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rosalind. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My business partner and I have been friends since childhood. We were also professional nannies in college and always dreamed of starting our own agency. When we were 24 years old, without a business loan or any outside financial support, we opened our first agency in Tucson, Arizona. As young, female entrepreneurs without any money, the cards were stacked against us. To contribute to the challenges we had to overcome, I found out I was pregnant with my first baby the month we opened. In six short years, my business partner Caroline and I have grown our 2-woman operation in Tucson to a nationally-known nanny agency in two states (Arizona and Texas) with over 100 employees and generating over $1,000,000 in revenue annually. We have received multiple recognitions and awards including “Best in Industry” and “Service Firm of the Year” and have been featured in a variety of publications over the years.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Having babies and being a mom and business owner was certainly a challenge for me. It’s important to me that I inspire other young women to believe that they can do it both because they can. Like all small business owners, we have had challenges with our employees, with recruiting, growing pains with expansion and even personal struggles with each other. But we have always not only overcome these challenges but have come out even stronger than before.

Trusting Connections is a full-service nanny agency and sitter service that connects DFW families with exceptional nannies, sitters, doulas, newborn care specialists and other family care professionals. We are expert, local matchmakers that help families seeking a full-time nanny find truly compatible, high-quality candidates. While most agencies are primarily concerned with finding a nanny that is safe and qualified and available (those are all givens to us) we take it a step further with personally assessments and innovative matching methodologies to make sure that the nannies we place are a really “good fit.” We also have a sitter service (Flex Membership) that gives member families access to our team of fully-screened and agency employed nannies and sitters 24/7, 365 days a year even at a moment’s notice. Our nannies provide sick care, newborn care, special needs care and more. We even serve corporations and churches by supplying them with a professional team of child care providers on an ongoing or occasional basis. What sets us apart? Quality. Our screening process is among the most rigorous in the country. We work with a licensed, private detective that investigates all of our nannies by hand and we are one of the few agencies that does drug testing. We even require our applicants to pass a knowledge-based exam.

Luck, I don’t know about. But God has definitely been involved every step of the way. So many unanswered prayers or struggles turned out to be such great blessings.
