Listening Beyond the Leash: Where Animals Are Finally Heard

For Tamarah Wild, the shift from pet sitting to animal communication came from a deep ache of not knowing—what animals were feeling, needing, or hoping for, especially during illness and end‑of‑life moments. Through intuitive and telepathic connection, Tamarah helps bridge that silence, offering families clarity, relief, and peace by honoring pets as conscious, purposeful beings whose love, agency, and wisdom continue well beyond the physical realm.

Hi Tamarah, thank you so much for sharing your journey and this meaningful shift in your work. Moving from pet sitting into animal communication and mediumship is such a unique path, and we’re excited for our readers to learn more about what you do. What first sparked your transition from caring for pets physically to connecting with them on an intuitive and spiritual level?
It was frustrating to not know how the animal was feeling. What they were thinking. What they wanted. I had worked with many pets with anxiety, but often didn’t know their background, their story. I’d worked with dying pets, but didn’t know what they wanted for their end of life experience. Learning to communicate with them telepathically allowed them to be heard and understood. People were amazed by what their pets shared.  Bridging that communication gap changed everything.

Many people sense a deep bond with their animals but may not think of it as a “soul contract.” How do you explain that idea to clients, and what have you seen that convinces you these connections are purposeful and mutual?
I used to think our pets were sweet little creatures to love on and take care of.  The more animals I spoke with, living and deceased, the more I realized they are here for us, their humans, and by no accident.  I had a client who left their dog with Grandma, because she had a house and big yard and loved the dog.  The client asked me to talk to the dog to make sure he was happy.  Throughout the conversation the dog told me he was there to protect Grandma from harming herself. He told me she wouldn’t heal from her ancestral traumas in this lifetime, but he was there to absorb and transmute some of her chaotic, self-destructive energy to help keep her safe.

That contract was created prior to their souls coming into body.

Sharing information about soul contracts can be a delicate conversation.  Some people are open to it and some are not.  I honor whatever the clients believe.  I’m not here to convince anyone or change anyone’s beliefs.  I’m here to tell you what your pet wants you to know. So, with that I move through the experience intuitively, sharing what is helpful without causing discomfort.

I’m often with clients during very painful times. Pets with illnesses, injuries, trauma, and end of life. As a pet owner, not knowing what your pet thinks or wants or feels is devastating. The not knowing causes hopelessness, fear, confusion, even panic.  I share what their pet feels physically, emotionally, mentally, energetically and spiritually.  Knowing brings profound relief to their humans as they now have more information to navigate their pet’s situation.  For me, these conversations allow me to honor the divine nature of the pet as well as acknowledge their role, their agency and their commitment.

You often work with pets during illness, behavioral changes, or end-of-life moments. How does being able to “hear” what an animal is feeling or needing change the way families navigate those emotional and sometimes heartbreaking situations?
I’m often part of the pet’s transition back to spirit.  I’m often there for the release of the physical body, and while I feel great joy for the pet’s return to Spirit, I am here also to tend to the humans who are experiencing an excruciating loss.  I can feel energetically the gap in time between here and gone. It feels like a vacuum, a crack in the timeline.

For the humans, the loss is gut-wrenching.  Their grief is palpable. And necessary.  They often apologize for crying or for being upset, but  I see their pain as a tribute of love for their pet. And I stay, quietly saving space.

Your mediumship work — connecting with pets who have passed — sounds especially powerful for grieving families. Can you share what those sessions are like and how they help people find comfort, closure, or healing?
Grief looks and feels differently from person to person, but in my experience guilt, regret and difficulty processing the loss and accepting the new normal are very common. Knowing their pet is well and happy, hearing who was there for them when they crossed over, being reminded of favorite times they’d shared, learning about their soul mission, and receiving a message from their pet– this connection– this information–helps them heal.  Tears of suffering turn to tears of happiness because their pet is ok and loves them and will watch over them, even send signs when they visit.

For someone who feels curious but maybe skeptical or unsure about animal communication, what would you want them to understand about this work and the deeper wisdom our animals might already be trying to share with us?
I have only had a handful of skeptics in the past decade.  There are many aspects of what I do that could raise an eyebrow, though.  Telepathy.  Energy healing. Chakra balancing.  Medical intuition. Animal communication.  Animal mediumship.  But, again, I’m not here to convince or change people’s minds.  Those who need me will find me.  I often send that out to the Universe- “Lead those who need me, to me.”
