You’re balancing so many creative outlets right now — podcasting, music, and now a streaming TV show. How did this journey all begin for you, and what inspired you to start sharing your voice publicly in the first place?
Well, what initially inspired me to start sharing my voice publicly were the things that I was experiencing in my personal life. Struggling with finances, not having a relationship with my family, depression, alcoholism, in and out of rehab, you name it. I didn’t really have anyone in my corner spiritually to teach me about God or faith. So I decided I would dive deeper into getting to know God for myself. Once I began to develop a relationship with the creator, I realized my mission was to help strengthen others who may currently be in that low place that I once was in.
Your podcast has clearly been the foundation for everything that followed. What was the original vision behind the show, and how has it evolved as you’ve grown personally and professionally?
My podcast began as me wanting to get the opinion of others on the matters of love. My original vision was just to have a talk show where we talked about life. But it has evolved and developed into more of a vibe where you can be yourself and we can have fun and dance without judgment.
You just released two new songs that will be hitting Spotify soon — congratulations! How does music fit into your story, and what messages or emotions are you hoping listeners connect with through these tracks?
Thank you! My two songs are electronic/dance music and they are now streaming on all streaming platforms. Music fits into my life as a daily motivator! I can’t get through one simply day without hearing some good tunes! Through my music, I exude freedom! Not fitting into society, not being who your expected to be, but being one’s true self which is expressed in my sounds.
Now you’re launching The SC Show as a streaming series that focuses more on motivation and encouragement. What made you want to expand the podcast into a visual format, and what can viewers expect that’s different or deeper than the audio version?
So, what made me want to branch out from social media podcasting is the amount of people I could reach and the lives that I can impact. Doing ministry online has been fruitful, podcasting has been fun, motivational speaking has been lucrative and now it’s time I bring all of that into one show for streaming networks. What can be expected is raw truth, direct commentary, in a more professional studio setting. Opposed to me recording in my car or my hotel rooms, etc.
A big theme in your work is uplifting people who may be struggling with depression, lack, or self-doubt. Why is creating that kind of positive, motivating space so important to you right now?
It’s extremely important to me because I’ve lost friends due to depression, I’ve lost many good people that I loved dearly. If I can speak life and even pray for one person I’m satisfied in my mission. It’s also important because I understand how low those self doubt and worthless feelings can take you. Going without, having no money is depressing but it’s not the end. And it’s very possible to overcome with the right people behind you, uplifting and motivating you. That is where I come in.
