Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Elusive.
DJ Elusive, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I began DJing when I was 12 years old, and that opened up many doors for me in the musical world in terms of learning different genres of music and how to read crowds and play to them, fast forward to 2014, I was asked to be a mixer on 97.9 The Beat Radio Station in Dallas.
For the past four years, I was the youngest mixer in a top 5 radio market, so that meant a lot to me. I’ve learned the ins and outs of this market as a whole to begin connecting people with other people and being able to do that has put a shine on the other talent that Dallas has to offer in the musical space. My most recent accomplishments have been that I put together the Official Trailer Music for NBA LIVE 2k19 that was produced by Slikk Muzik.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My “job” is connecting people via influence. In the urban world people that connect other people are called “the plug” but basically, I tell people I’m the socket, without the socket, there is no plug. I connect people that are involved with the tech and app world with music artists, and I connect producers to artists and labels to artists. The message I really want people to understand about what I do is that I am always looking for ways to help other people through connecting them with the right people. I also want people to be inspired and that you can do anything you want to do you just have to get up and actually do it!
Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities, and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
Find something you’re very good at and market that, give reasons for people to pay for your services.
