Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Nash.
Chase, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I didn’t always know that I wanted to tattoo. Growing up, I was always drawing. I started to take my art more seriously as the years went on. When I got my first tattoo, I realized I wanted to turn my art into a career.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
As far as tattooing goes, I do black and grey realism, with surrealist influence if possible. Outside of tattooing, it depends on the medium. When it comes to painting, realism and surreal aspects are still present, although the imagery might vary. For example, a painting can withstand more elaborate works, while skin can only tolerate so much detail as it ages.
It’s hard for me to say that I’m attempting to convey a certain message when each piece of art is so different. Each piece I create has its own message or mood that relates to what’s going on at that particular time, whether it be my own art I’m creating for myself or a tattoo on another person.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
My advice is to work on your craft as much as possible. Aim to always improve. If I could have learned to tattoo earlier in life, I would’ve.
