Today we’d like to introduce you to Simaia Few.
Simaia, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I grew up with my mother who is disabled due to being legally blind. We lived in Mesquite, Dallas, and then moved to Forney where I graduated high school. I have a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from University of North Texas as well. Due to my mother’s disability, I had to grow up faster than most children to help around our home. Being creative through music and art really helped me through tough times when I was younger. Because makeup became such a passion for me, I literally made my Mom sign an agreement to let me wear makeup outside of our home when I was 13! She was a strict Momma, but she still allowed me to express myself through the art I chose. During high school I had the opportunity of the doing the makeup for some of the drama club and drill team’s productions. Now, I have the amazing opportunity to provide makeup services for the public. The talents I have been blessed with have given me the opportunity to help others and I am so grateful I have been able to do so.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a Makeup Artist/Enthusiast and Beauty Influencer. I work with others to be able to enhance the working woman’s God given beauty and make her feel her best. As a Makeup Artist, it is my mission to assist others reach their full potential for their special days and events. Because I have studied and look at life from a sociological stand point, I truly believe that when you look your best, you do your best! When I complete a look for one of my clients and see the light of self-confidence shine in their eyes, it gives me pure joy! It gives me great satisfaction knowing I helped a hard-working woman look her best while taking on the world and chasing her dreams and aspirations.
As a Makeup Enthusiast and Beauty Influencer, I enjoy trying beauty products to inform my supporters of the product’s quality and how to use them correctly. I work with everyday women to help educate them on all types of beauty products so they can use them effectively in their own home in order to receive the results they desire. I do this by streaming live video on Facebook where my supporters can watch me apply the products and ask me questions in real time. I also post product reviews on all my social media platforms for reference and for those who do not have the hour or so to watch my full live videos.
How can artists connect with other artists?
I advise artists to surround themselves with others who are creative like them. Collaborations are a healthy way to socialize with others and still create great content. Hanging around another artist, even if they are not in the same field as you, can feel refreshing and you will often find out that you are not alone when it comes to feeling lonely. Getting a sense of community is important for everyone and I think this is one example on how to experience that.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I conduct my live streamed videos on my Facebook Business Page (Simaia Makeup). All of my other content including makeup looks and product reviews will be on my Instagram (@Simaia Makeup). I have created a YouTube Channel where I will start uploading tutorials on how to apply makeup for the average working woman. The channel name is also Simaia Makeup. Anyone is able to subscribe for free so they can catch my videos when I upload them!
As far as supporting my work, every like, comment, and share on social media is very helpful. I appreciate anyone who is willing to do so. I also offer makeup services as well. Anyone is able to inquire about these services by emailing me or messaging me on my Facebook Business Page.
