Conversations with the Inspiring Bri Franklin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Franklin.

Bri, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I competed in high-level sports my entire life, specifically gymnastics and ballet. Eventually, I chose to retire due to burn out and injuries. Throughout college, I battled poor eating and lifestyle habits that my physical activity could not keep up with. I discovered CrossFit in 2010, and everything changed. All aspects of this world fascinated me: from the freedom to pursue unconventional methods of fitness to radical nutritional theories. Most importantly, it showed me that fitness and health was a lifelong pursuit for everyone, not just athletes.

After owning a gym for several years, I stepped out to help meet a greater need that I saw lacking – coaching for the parts of our life that are ‘outside the gym’ that have just as strong an influence on our overall health.

I believe we’ve lost touch with our own intuitive knowledge about what it takes to thrive as a human. We’re suffering an energy crisis despite the multitude of resources available. It’s pretty easy to find a gym or training program. But even if you train 5-6 hours per week in the BEST training program there is…this only addresses 3% of your time. What about the other 97%? Where’s the program for that? My work is focused on helping people use their precious time as effectively as possible to discover long-lasting health.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For years, even as a coach and gym owner, I battled yo-yo dieting and finding “the one” nutrition path that was right for me. I trained hard but no matter how active I was, I couldn’t seem to figure it out. Experimenting with different nutrition strategies (paleo, intermittent fasting, keto, macros, caloric restriction, diet pills) just kept me stuck in a vicious all-or-nothing cycle. It was infuriating and discouraging.

Furthermore, I couldn’t help but ask if it was this difficult for me (and I was devoting a LOT of time to figuring out) what chance did my clients have? My mom with a job and 2 kiddos or my lawyer with his demanding job and limited time?

After extensive education and application, I finally came to understand the power that our biology and behavior play in achieving long-term wellness. Now, I have turned my story into a means for understanding the struggles we all go through living in the 21st century. My goal is to embody the principles that I discovered have the greatest impact on attaining vitality and health while showing others how possible and SIMPLE it can be to experience the same.

For many years, I wished I had a guide to show me the way back to intuitive wellness and I believe it is my calling to show others the way back to their own health. Integrating nutrition, fitness and lifestyle is POSSIBLE and what’s more, it’s REALLY fun.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a nutritionist who has developed a system for helping people integrate their nutrition, fitness and lifestyle as effortlessly as possible. For years I searched for a program or coach who could help me APPLY what I knew was important in a way that was sustainable and realistic.

When I realized it didn’t exist, I knew I had to create it. Since then, I’ve walked people through the incredibly rewarding journey of discovering energy and health that they never dreamed possible.

I’m incredibly proud of my program’s ability to bring clarity to aspects of our life that most often bring confusion and frustration. It is such a joy to see my clients continue to experience success months and years down the road by understanding their unique health needs – and be able to meet them!

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
There is room for success with both genders in the health & fitness industry. But I do find that as a female, I have the opportunity to connect with my male clients in a way that is non-threatening and even disarming while being able to connect with my females on a depth that would perhaps not be available otherwise. As a coach who provides guidance in many personal areas of their life, this is invaluable.
