Conversations with the Inspiring Nafisa Dharamsi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nafisa Dharamsi.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t obsessed with houses-absolutely loved going to see model homes, open houses and watched all the design and home décor shows on TV since I was in my early teens. I always knew I wanted to do something related to this. At first, I pursued interior design by taking classes for a degree in this field. I had to put that all on the back burner to help my husband grow his business. The business flourished and we decided to sell after 5 years.

Soon, after the sale of our company, I found myself gravitating towards real estate. I always loved houses, and what a perfect fit!

I found I truly enjoyed this- meeting new people and helping old friends and family find just the right home. It is rewarding to see them either raise their families in these houses or grow their wealth through acquiring rental properties. I also have been able to use my interest in design to help stage houses and implement ideas for renovations.

I am so blessed to be able to do what I love and passionate about. It’s a true honor that my clients entrust me with one of their largest purchase

Has it been a smooth road?
Unlike other businesses where it’s a relatively quick transaction. Helping a client buy a home or sell a house can take time-weeks to months at times. Developing patience is a must.

Also, work-life balance sometimes can be difficult. Due to the nature of this career, weekends and evenings tend to be the busiest of times and coordinating family schedules and client needs can be challenging.

I would tell someone new at this business to not give up and keep working on building relationships and trust. This career takes a lot of time commitment and energy but is so worthwhile.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Nafisa Dharamsi, Realtor story. Tell us more about the business.
How lucky am I that I am able to help home ownership dreams come true for my clients!?

Buying, selling and leasing real estate can be a daunting task, my job is to make the entire process run smoothly and seamlessly. I pride myself in the service I provide to my clients and integrity in which I serve. I have a genuine desire to guide my clients to the best purchase for them and I believe that is what sets me apart.

No matter how long it takes, I will not settle until a home is a right fit for my client. If I am awake, I will pick up your call or reply to your text. Any day, every day and even on vacations! I have never had a client not turn into a friend after we have worked on a transaction.

What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
Real estate is the growing number of careers that women shine in.

Women are reinventing the real estate market. A profession that was once dominated by men is now starting to see more women in leadership roles. This is huge progress, especially when living in a world still facing gender inequality. Women are thriving in leadership roles and bringing new perspectives, ideas, and protocols to the table.

Brokerages are serving the ladies well by continually helping them grow, learn, motivate and celebrate in their success. This field is one that I feel that women do not have a barrier in.
