Today we’d like to introduce you to Trisha Le.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Trisha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a first generation Vietnamese-American, born and raised in Dallas, Texas. My parents both immigrated to America from Vietnam when they were in their twenties. With no money, not speaking a lick of English, and dealing with the many obstacles that stemmed from war recovery and displacement, they struggled to adapt and fit in. Pushing their hardships and adversity aside, they worked tirelessly, persevered, and pushed themselves every single day. They became successful business owners/real estate investors and were able to retire early. From a young age, I’ve always admired their work ethic and knew I wanted to provide the same for my future children. I got through college (yes, even went to my Friday 8 am classes), survived lots of grueling internships, and became a marketing director for a national company. I also am a part-time blogger, focusing on all things food, style, travel, and life, in general. I’ve pushed myself to give 110% into everything I do, because I know that’s what my parents did for me.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’m a naturally shy person, so putting myself out there on the internet (as well as in front of a camera) was definitely something I found extremely uncomfortable at first – which is why I held off on becoming a blogger for so long. I think the hardest part about starting a blog is literally just that. Starting. The more you write and the more you make yourself visible, the more comfortable and confident you’ll become.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’ve always been the creative type, so starting a blog was pretty much a no-brainer for me. Also, as a marketer, building and growing a brand has always been something that’s so fun and fascinating – I love seeing brands go from 0 to 100. I usually write about travel, my style, and I sprinkle in a bit of beauty, but what I’ve found is that the thing that people care the most about is my life, in general. I used to be closed off and an extremely private person. Blogging has definitely made me open up more because it allows me to connect to thousands of strangers online. I love helping my readers find great deals and steals, but I also love giving them advice on all things life, family and career. The most rewarding part of blogging is having the ability to inspire others.
Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
Don’t compare yourself to others. The next time you feel discouraged over the ‘successes’ of others, remember that they got to where they are because they followed what made them happy – and made it happen for themselves. Your road to success paved by you, and you only. Don’t stress about the amount of work you have to do, just rejoice in the amount of work you’ve already done and be proud of the fact that you’re motivated enough to make something out of yourself.
