Life and Work with Eloisa Padilla

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eloisa Padilla.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Eloisa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Eloisa’s Store started in a small garage room inside my house. I have always been in the resell business, whether it was used or new. But the day after my 28th, I decided if I was going do this, I was going to go full throttle. I started out small with four pairs of sunglasses, I sold them, bought more and so on, and before I knew it, I started adding more and more accessories. I never thought it would become what it is today. Since when my website went live, I was just a Jewelry and Accessories Store. Next thing I know, I’m adding t-shirts, then when they started selling out I began to add more clothing… I
Was online for about a year before I opened up the first location in Irving. I rented out a suite 8×10 and then my following grew exponentially. I had to move to a bigger suite to accommodate the growth. My marketing tool throughout has been social media and my Pop-Ups, I was everywhere from the Company’s Vendors Events to my Church’s Garage Sale just trying to Get my name Out there.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was a struggle at the beginning for sure, because nobody knows you, who you are, what you are about. Nobody knows if you’re a legit business, especially since I started out online. You have to earn people’s trust, that’s one of the reasons I started to collaborate with bloggers, influencers, and photographers. I wanted to get my name out there so people would feel comfortable when ordering from me.

My advice will be just to Hustle and Hustle Hard. Don’t be afraid of the what ifs, what if doesn’t work out or doesn’t sell, & so on. Because at the end of the day, all that hard work does pay off. Remember you have to crawl before you can walk.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Eloisa’s Store – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m known for my t-shirts, when you think of Eloisa’s Store people think “oh she has really cute t-shirts”. I envision my shirts and get help finalizing the designing. I’m proud of everything because I literally started with nothing. Everything that I’ve earned has been invested back into the vision I have for Eloisa’s store. We are now adding Men’s Clothing & Plus Size, maybe later, it will be kids clothes, who knows. The sky is the limit.

There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
I wouldn’t necessarily say I have a mentor. But from my experience in doing pop-ups and other events, I have learned so much.
