Erica is a fresh, vibrant make-up artist from Kansas City, Missouri, that currently resides in Dallas, Texas. She has countless years of experience in the beauty and fashion industry. Obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Apparel/Textile Marketing and Design at the prestigious Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. And working in management/make-up artistry for one of the worlds leading cosmetics brands, she has gained the knowledge of precision and skill that can be transformed from street to runway. Her artistry has been seen in fashion shows, weddings, photo shoots, pageants, magazines, television appearances, promotional/marketing materials, etc. Erica is on the cutting edge of the beauty industry and is ready to transform you into the beauty godess of your dreams.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Women are the creators of purpose, vision, and life for the world. As a woman, life is not easy in an overly male dominated society. I believe that my life’s journey has cultivated me to where I am today. A successful young entrepreneur in the ever evoluting beauty industry. Working in a field that beauty and image is a priority, you must first process your internal beauty and project that outwardly to the world.
Please tell us about Eyes By Erica.
Eyes By Erica is me and I am her. I’m a mobile makeup artist serving the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex changing people’s lives one brush stroke at a time; through my personal positivity, transparency and vulnerability.
There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
My advice for people in finding a mentor and networking always has a “hunters” mentality gathering information from everyone that you encounter. We are all created for a purpose and serve as teachers for each other. It’s just your job to figure out where you are in your life’s classroom (lesson).
