Today we’d like to introduce you to Ginger Taylor.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ginger. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was a hair stylist for 20 years. I owned my own salon and there use to be this guy that would come in selling praline candy. I was addicted! Then he stopped making it. I had to figure out how to make it. Once I got the re pie down, I wanted to expand on flavors. Red velvet was popular at the time and I wanted to make a red velvet candy. Couldn’t figure out how to do it, so one of my clients suggested that I just make a red velvet cake. I did, brought it to the salon and shared it with clients. Within 2 weeks, I sold 30 cakes. I thought, this is what I’m sticking with. I started making over the top candy cakes to stand out from all the other bakers, then somehow I started making alcohol infused cupcakes and they were a hit. Now, that’s what I am known for. I love every minute of this business. The creativity and putting a smile on people’s faces.
I moved here to Dallas a year ago from California. My business has grown so much. Dallas has been very good to me.
Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a smooth ride. I did a lot of free cupcakes in the beginning. Every time I saw an event pop up on my social media, I would offer my cupcakes for free, so I could get seen, meet people. 95% of my customers come from my Instagram. You have to stay consistent with posting pics and videos. Every time I post, I get a sell. My advice would be to keep going even when it seems to not be working. Everyone has slow days or months, but if you are putting I. The time and effort, it will pay off.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Cupcake Experience – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in alcohol-infused cupcakes and the crazy part about that is, I don’t drink.
I am most proud of my consistency. Every single cupcake that I ice, I think someone will be looking at this and I try to make it that much more special.
What sets me apart is the look of my cupcakes. I am very detailed in my cupcake design and neat.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Both of my parents are entrepreneurs. My dad is a tailor and my mom is a wedding coordinator. They taught me independence.
