Life and Work with Octavio Arzola

Today we’d like to introduce you to Octavio Arzola.

Octavio, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
To be honest, I just wanted to make my mama proud, everyone in my family has something going for themselves and whenever they tell her some good news, the biggest smile came across her face, so beautiful and I never got that smile because I didn’t have anything to tell her. So, everything I do is to experience that smile and tell me she’s proud of what I have accomplished. She has given me everything in life to become someone better but it’s been hard for me till this day, I haven’t gotten to tell her anything worth telling but when I got this email about VoyageDallas Magazine. I had the biggest smile because this is something worth telling her I still haven’t but I will soon as it’s ready! I know I’m supposed to do this for me, but I just want to hear my mom says I’m proud of you, it’s been very hard for us but she has been by my side every step of the way and mom, I just want you to know I’m sorry for everything and I love you. Thank you, I don’t tell you that enough. I’ve worked so hard to be where I’m at now and to everyone who has helped me, thank you. Also, photography has helped me so so much with my weight loss journey, I have dropped 115 POUNDS in a year and two months without this, I don’t know where I’ll be, but if I don’t make it in photography, it’s ok because I know my mom will be proud at the end.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, it’s not been smooth for half a year, I kept secret about my drug problem and hurting myself giving this chance, I just want others to know you’re never alone, it may seem like it but help is right there I couldn’t see that but now, I have and im still learning that.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with your business – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as and what sets you apart from others.
I started doing street photography, but over time, I knew it wouldn’t last for long, but I started learning about portraits. That took my love for photography to a new level, learning so much about this has blown my mind because it’s not easy especially editing, I started just using presets but soon, I realized that won’t make me stand out, so night after working 12 hour shifts, I would learn to edit on my own, as soon as I got that down. I learned about skin retouching and wow, let me tell you that’s my favorite thing to do now, yeah, it’s a lot of work but the final image is amazing. I’m still learning more now. I’m not the best but believe me, I’m up every night practicing.

Who have you been inspired by?
Both of my moms because when life has them down, they don’t stop getting up they’re my heroes.
