Today we’d like to introduce you to Rheisha Shol.
Rheisha Shol was born in Belmopan, Belize. Her family decided to move to Houston, Texas when she was six years old to get a better education and to live the ‘American Dream’. She currently resides in Austin, Texas while pursuing a career at Oracle and is on the Oracle Women’s Leadership Board, dedicated to developing female leaders.
In college, Rheisha was an outstanding student. She graduated Dean’s List with an Electronic Media and Business Management Degree. During her time in school, she was involved in beauty pageants and held the title of Miss Belize and Houston Caribbean Queen. After her title was up, she became a radio host for KTSW 89.9 at Texas State and a co-host at Royalties ATX, where she had her own show called Cultures of Love. Cultures of Love was dedicated to women’s empowerment, self-preservation and self-love. She then decided to pursue television as a TV host for Big Review TV, reviewing businesses locally.
After graduating college, Rheisha created RheeTV, a platform for fearless and passionate individuals who are going against the grain to create a limitless life. RheeTV is a community for young entrepreneurs, choosing collaboration over competition. RheeTV highlights self-care, entrepreneurship, entertainment, media, social justice and intersectional feminism.
In her spare time, she enjoys shopping with her girls, having fun in the sun and watching movies with her family. She also enjoys lending a helping hand at the GRB Convention Center on Christmas Eve every year with her family. In addition, she takes pride in being a mentor to a 13-year-old girl name J-da, who she met through Big Brother Big Sister Program.
Rheisha plans to be an activist for her community to raise awareness on the issues of this generation and aims to be a positive role model for adolescents in her community and surrounding areas.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I learned early on that nothing in this life is easy. Growing up in an abusive home taught me that adversity doesn’t define you. If anything, it helps shape who you are.
In college, I struggled with self-love, confidence, relationships and forgiveness. Like most women, we go through a lot and seem to always keep a smile, look pretty and act like we’re fine but deep down, we’re crying out for help.
The thing that got me out of that hole was God. My relationship with Him started when I went into a depression and didn’t even realize I did until later on in life. I started to go to church, read my Bible, journal, do yoga and even meditate.
Today, I have a good relationship with my father. I’ve forgiven myself and can genuinely say, I love the woman I am becoming.
If any of my ladies are reading this, block him sis. Go to church, talk to God, start journaling and put all that energy into yourself. Your 20’s are your selfish years and don’t feel bad for doing you.
But in all seriousness, Ladies, please be patient with yourself. We’re still healing, learning and becoming who we want to be. First, decide what you want in this life. Whether that’s a family, kids, career or travel — write it down. After you write it down, write bullet points on what you can do each day to get closer to those goals. Analyze your list and meditate on it. Put the list on your phone, wall, computer, fridge, wherever (make sure it’s visible each day) and keep doing what you can to get closer to who and where you want to be in this life. We only get one life, might as well do all we can to live it to the fullest.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with RheeTV – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
RheeTV is a platform for fearless and passionate individuals who are going against the grain to create a limitless life. It’s all things entrepreneurship, where you can gain insight from young go-getters in business, entertainment, etc. It’s is a community for young entrepreneurs choosing collaboration over competition that highlights self-care, entrepreneurship, entertainment, media, social justice and intersectional feminism.
What sets RheeTV apart from others is stories. RheeTV gives individuals the opportunity to tell their truth unapologetically, without judgment, correction, or doubt. Whether it’s in the form of film, social, women’s empowerment brunches, we want to give all women the chance to feel assured they aren’t alone in their journey.
There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
Advice for anyone networking – put yourself out there. It can be uncomfortable but a closed mouth won’t get fed. Speak up, talk to people, introduce yourself and let the universe know what you want. It’s crazy what you can do when you set your mind to it.
