Life and Work with Shanice Thompson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanice Thompson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Shanice. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey began with my love for art. I loved art class as a child. I would draw, paint, and do whatever it took to make my artwork stand out. Because of art, I began interested in fashion and beauty in high school. I come from a Christian background and my vision was to open my own beauty business that would aid the Christian lifestyle. I worked at old navy and from there I worked at Dillard’s, Macy’s and Ulta as a beauty advisor. I loved makeup and I loved helping my clients feel and also become more confident in themselves, so I began further perfecting my craft. Soon after, I began working for Drugstore brands as well as The Estée Lauder Companies. I studied Estée Lauder and how she formed her business and I gained more knowledge on how to go forward. In December 2017, I launched my own business entitled Shaniceglam which consists of makeup services for now. I’m currently in beauty school and once I’m licensed more services will be offered. I also launched my cosmetics line entitled SG Cosmetics which only consists of eyelashes as of now.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road to becoming an entrepreneur hasn’t been the easiest. I had to adjust the way I thought about the legacy I wanted my business to be built upon, so it can last throughout time. I also had to create a balance between going to school, staying active in church, working and building the foundation of my business.

I’ve been on my own since the age of 18, I’ve had many experiences of loss, pain, pleasure, and pain. Now at 22, I have 1 degree, a business and a life full of countless opportunities waiting to happen. It took me 4 years to establish everything. When I first started all I had was a few makeup products, a dream, and budget. It’s been quite a journey however, I’m grateful to God for allowing me to get this far.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with ShaniceGlam – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
As of right now, I am primarily a self- taught makeup artist. I specialize in natural and dramatic makeup looks. I do hairstyling here and there, however, I’m known for my love of highlighting and contour. As a brand, I’m proud to offer services that allow my clients to have a breath of fresh air. I set the atmosphere for my clients to be themselves and be comfortable in their own skin. What sets me apart from others is that I’m more focused on making sure my clients are pleased with themselves on the inside, so that when I complete my service to them they can appreciate the features they already have.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Absolutely. Growing up, I experienced abuse and art became my outlet where I could fully express myself with no filter. I had no idea that my passion would turn into what it is today.
