Meet Adrian Clark of AC Sports Management, LLC in Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Clark.

Adrian, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My parents preached education and leadership, growing up in Pleasant Grove. I loved sports and loved talking so figuring out how to bring the two together was key. I have always been in a leadership position; whether it was co-captain of the basketball team or senior class president, I always wanted to direct things. While earning my undergraduate degree from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, I became a licensed amateur boxer while mentoring kids at the Neighborhood Center Boxing Gym. I fought in two Golden Glove tournaments and totally fell in love with the sport. Upon graduation, I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and began working with my close friend who at the time was playing for the Utah Jazz. Shortly thereafter, I began also representing professional boxers. From there, it’s pretty much history… World title fights, HBO appearances, making the Forbes list, becoming friends with J.Prince, writing books, creating game-changing campaigns, I’ve done a lot. Hopefully, that doesn’t sound too pompous. Lol!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship is definitely a roller coaster ride. My bank account has been negative more times than I can count. I’ve had my car repossessed, lights cut off, behind on rent… you name the struggle, I’ve endured and overcome it.

Please tell us about AC Sports Management, LLC.
As the owner of AC Sports Management, LLC, I specialize in contract negotiation and career advising for professional athletes, in boxing. I have a lot to be proud of with my company but the thing I’m most proud of, I reached a mainstream level by myself. I did not have a mentor, investor, etc. I really learned on the fly and made myself relevant. What sets me apart from anyone else is my innovation and ability to win, even while seemingly losing.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from my childhood is fighting with my brother (Brandon Clark). He died in 2006 of cancer. He is the reason why I am in the business of boxing. He is the reason that I fight smart and hard (in business). He is the reason why I am resilient and relentless.
