So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started baking when my children were young. My husband passed down an insatiable sweet tooth to them…. eating fresh baked cookies was their go-to desserts. Once I begin reading ingredients and understand how they affect the quality of the product, I wanted to make them my way. It began with chocolate chip cookies. I found a good recipe but begin the search for ingredients that would make it my own. I researched different types of sugars, flours, fats and vanilla extracts not only how these ingredients were produced but also the health benefits.
I settled on my favorite ingredients and our Gourmet Chocolate Chip Cookie was born! All of our products are made with quality ingredients without chemical additives. I wanted to ensure that you could taste all of the love I put into our cookies, hence our tag line “Made with ❤️ you can taste!”
Has it been a smooth road?
I started my business when my children were young and busy with activities, my husband traveled for work and I worked a full-time job. Balancing all of those plates was definitely a challenge. My home life has always been my priority but in order to run a business, I had to incorporate it into our lives, which is why we all work the business in one way or the other. My children learned how to package products in the late evenings as we prepared for Farmers Markets the next day.
Balancing life and running a business has been an undertaking. It has challenged me mentally, physically and spiritually in making sure every aspect of my life gets adequate attention. It has pushed me to grow in ways that I would have never imagined.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sugar Brown’s Sweet Treats – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a Gourmet Cookie Company that provides cookies that are made with ingredients that are close to its natural state as possible. Purchasing locally where available. I run Sugar Brown’s with my husband Zadek and children Akel and Neya.
Many of our cookies has a “scoop, drop and bake” concept where anyone can enjoy them easily. We make cookies in various ways to satisfy your sweet tooth differently.

We also make Decorated Sugar Cookies and Vanilla Sugar.
I think what sets us apart from others is my attention to flavor and the quality ingredients we hand-pick to put in our products. It’s a lot of work but definitely worth it for my family and customers.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I would say that the upcoming Food Scene in Fort Worth. We have had the pleasure of participating in the Food and Wine Festival, various Farmer’s Markets and Pop Up Markets through out the city. We also have had the opportunity of selling our cookie dough in a Major grocery chain throughout the state. This exposure has allowed us to meet other small business owners offering great products that have contributed to the growth of the Fort Worth Food scene.
