Meet Ashley Pugh of A.Cherie Couture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Pugh.

Ashley, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Ever since I was a young girl, I always knew I wanted to be a fashion designer. I would cut up shirts and bead them to create unique designs as a kid.

I attended fashion school in San Antonio, Texas. For my capstone collection, I created before graduating; I created an eight-piece bridal collection with some of the first wedding dresses I ever created. I ended up winning many awards for this collection, which really showed me the direction that I wanted to pursue after graduating. I moved to Dallas, where I apprenticed for a couture shop and learned quite a bit about couture techniques. I also freelanced for other fashion companies around town to help ends meet while learning what I needed to learn in order to one day own my own business. I always knew that I wanted to run my own business one day.

Once I felt prepared enough after three years of working in the Dallas fashion industry, I decided to launch my own company and work on it full time! I took the leap of faith and I am so grateful I did!

We have made custom wedding dresses for clients worldwide! Not only do we work with brides locally, but internationally as well!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The fashion industry is very cut throat. I believe I have truly worked for this dream. After I graduated, I knew I wanted to own my own business but had no idea what was ahead. I decided I needed to intern, work and learn as much as I could working for others in the Dallas fashion industry before launching my own business.

There were moments where I didn’t think I would ever make it and make ends meet while interning, but I kept striving and finding other freelance positions and networking. I did not want to give up.

It was also hard being away from my family right out of school, and moving to a big city, trying to make new friends. But I knew I needed to be in Dallas to learn. I have always loved Texas and never saw myself moving out of Texas. People would say why don’t you just move to New York, but I wanted to be a part of the Texas fashion industry and watch it grow.

In the end, I took everything I learned from all the different companies I worked for to form my company today. I had saw what worked, and didn’t work well for others and thought of ways I could improve the process for our A.Cherie clients.

Please tell us about A.Cherie Couture.

I am very proud about all of the brides we have served and all of the unique designs we have accomplished! I also am very proud that we can work with clients all around the world with the technology we have now!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
