Meet Ashton Steele of Ashton Steele Photography in Central Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashton Steele.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my photography business by taking senior pictures for my friends in college at Baylor University. After doing senior pictures for a few months my business started blossoming there (with my main form of advertising being word of mouth) to taking: maternity, newborn, family, proposals, and engagement pictures. I shot my first wedding in March of 2017 and since then I started working more in the wedding industry.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have definitely been obstacles in getting to where I am now. With the rise of Instagram, the number of photographers out there has also exponentially risen and it’s hard to get your name out there and stand out from the crowd.

Ashton Steele Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a portrait and wedding photographer based in Central Texas, but always willing to travel to tell someone’s story! I would say my specialty is portraits–I got started by doing senior/graduation photos for friends. In the last year, my specialty has shifted more towards couples photos whether it’s proposals, engagements or weddings. I shot my first wedding in March of 2017 and since then I have been more involved in the wedding industry. One of the best compliments/my favorite compliments is when people tell me how much fun they had during their session and how comfortable they felt. My goal during any session is to make my clients feel comfortable and like themselves; giving my clients warm, natural, and personal photos that they can cherish for a lifetime.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Getting to work with different wedding vendors to create styled wedding shoots. I have now shot three different styled wedding shoots, working with different vendors every time to create a look and bring that vision to life. I am so proud of how every vision turned out and it was 100% a group effort. It was also a great way to create friendships and network with other people in the wedding industry!
