Meet Barbara Haviland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbara Haviland.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I found painting and creating in oils shortly after my Dad died in 1976. From that moment on when I held a brush in my hand I was hooked. I am retired from banking and my husband and I travel. I paint landscapes and whatever else I find interesting.

I have been married for 55 years to Sam and we have 3 grown children. They are grown and we have 5 grandchildren. We have recently moved to Woodville, Texas and that was a chore. We do love our new house and yard. Lots of flowers to paint.

Please tell us about your art.
I have passion about what I create, I will try to paint anything that I see. This world that God has made is just beautiful. I want people that view my art to visualize being in the landscape that I paint. My art work is original and one of a kind.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Lots of lessons would be the study of color. I have learned that. I want other artists to keep painting and trying to do their best. Don’t compare your art to anyone but yours.
