Meet Sam Gmuer of Bow Tie Media in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sam. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began to develop an interest in photography in 2014 as a senior in high school. Back then, I was equipped only with the camera most of us have – an iPhone! But I started to learn composition rules and mobile editing to create quality images with what I had. In time, I started to share my work on Instagram and even began going to “Insta-meets,” where I could link up with other photographers and creatives. After a couple of years of getting better on my phone, I made the investment to buy my first camera. Around the same time, I heard that a couple of friends of mine were starting a wedding photography/videography company. They were kind enough to invite me to join the team! They trained me as a photographer and videographer over the years, and I was able to grow in my craft so much. Now I’m so privileged to run Bow Tie Media full time as the CEO, and I’ve captured countless weddings all over the US! Who would have thought an 18-year-old with an iPhone would turn his hobby into a career?

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. This journey has certainly had its ups and downs. Capturing a wedding is a high-stress environment to work in. You feel pressure to document every moment and detail perfectly! When I was first starting out, I was terrified to shoot a wedding all by myself. I felt like I was going to ruin the most important day of someone’s life. Thankfully those nerves have left over the years, and now I feel most alive capturing important memories for our sweet couples on their big days. And learning the business side of things as I transitioned to CEO has had its own set of difficulties! It makes me laugh when people assume I get to sit around and play with cameras all week long. Marketing and sales has been a big learning curve, and I’m still trying to grow to be a better leader for this company!

Bow Tie Media – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Bow Tie Media is a wedding photography/videography company you can trust. Our team has captured hundreds of couples’ big days all over the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and beyond!

Our photography is best described as colorful, vibrant, and timeless! We always say that when you look back at your photos in 50 years, we only want you to laugh at the outfits and hairstyles, and not the “trendy” photo editing style that is long gone! Our videography is best described as cinematic, artistic, and story-driven. Our goal is that as you watch your video in the decades to come, you’ll relive your wedding day as if you were experiencing it again!

We are best known for being a fun and stress-free presence on the wedding day, delivering photos and videos within one week of the wedding day, and of course – showing up in bow ties on your big day!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
It’s honestly impossible to choose just one. I think I have a new proudest moment every time I get a text or email from a couple saying how much they love what we captured for them. We love hearing that our work brought them to tears, captured details about their day they didn’t even notice or captured the joyful essence of their relationship in their photos/video. But by far, the best compliment to hear is that our team was a peaceful, joyful, and ready-to-serve presence on their big day.
