Meet Kortani Rettig of Choreo By Kort in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kortani Rettig.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My mom put me in dance at Stars of tomorrow when I was three years old & I danced there until I was seven. When I turned seven, I started dancing for a competition dance team called Rhythm Xtreme that then turned into Beyond Belief Dance Company directed by Justin Johnson. I competed on BBDC until I was a senior in high school.

When I was sophomore, I had the opportunity to be on America’s Got Talent with my team where we made it to the top 25 in LA. I graduated high school & danced on the Texas Tech Pom Squad all four years.

After college, I was a member of the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue dance team for a year. Once my sister opened her studio Grit Fitness I started teaching dance classes there twice a week. A couple of years in, I realized I wanted to branch off & start my own business, Choreo By Kort.

I still continued teaching weekly classes, but I also started choreographing competition routines for high school dance teams, holding dance privates, birthday parties & working with different local artist! It has been such an amazing experience & I can’t wait to see what my future has in store for me!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have most definitely encountered some struggles along the way. I am a full-time Elementary school teacher, so trying to juggle both jobs has been something new for me but nothing I can’t handle!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Choreo By Kort story. Tell us more about the business.
Since I started my business Choreo By Kort, I don’t only get to teach weekly classes, but now I get to work with dancers individually during dance private’s, hold group events or birthday parties, choreograph for different high school teams & work with local artist.

I am so proud to see how far I have come within a year. I have collabed & worked with so many amazing & talented people. What sets Choreo By Kort apart from others is the fierceness, boldness & confidence I bring every time I dance!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t necessarily believe in luck, but I do believe my God has & will continue to bless me in my journey!
