Meet Chris and Meredith Davis of The Sweet House in Rowlett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris and Meredith Davis.

“Chris and Meredith, owners of the Sweet House, are a married couple with a longstanding passion for sweets and ice cream. They opened The Sweet House in 2014 and having been working hard to create and provide the best ice cream in the Dallas area. Not only do they make homemade ice cream but they also specialize in making Gelato, Sorbet and Sherbet. In addition to making ice cream for their retail location in Rowlett, they also supply their homemade ices to restaurants, hotels, country clubs and market stores. Most of the inspiration of their delicious ice cream comes from Texas roots, some dating back to Meredith’s great grandmother’s recipe book. Over a hundred years of family tradition and secrets have been passed down into making this one-of-a-kind ice cream. Meredith in her youth practiced on the same type of old fashioned machine that her family used generations before. Now, Meredith and Chris use their skills, knowledge, dedication and more advanced machines to recreate the magic of Texas home-style vintage recipes. While Chris has spent his adult life living in Texas, he was born and raised in Liverpool, England; and occasionally he throws his roots into the mix.”

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
To highlight one of the many challenges that we face would be not getting as much personal time and rest as we would like to have. It is so important to make sure you have that to stay fresh and creative. We knew going into this that it would require a tremendous amount of our time and attention, but nothing really ever prepares you for the commitment it requires until you’re actually making it come to full fruition. We always tell people if you’re going to open a business, make sure you love it and understand that it will require most of your time and attention. If you are not prepared to sacrifice and give it your all, then don’t do it. However, we wouldn’t change the path we’re on because of the professional relationships we have gained throughout our journey.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Sweet House story. Tell us more about the business.
The Sweet House is an ultra-gourmet ice cream, gelato, sorbet and sherbet manufacturing facility and retail store located in Rowlett, Texas. We are known for our consistency, balance, seamless service, unique flavors, and, in addition, our alcohol infused flavors.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We believe you create your own luck. By saying that, we mean that we are constantly working on trying to perfect the art of creating delicious ice cream and building and maintaining our relationships with the clients that we are lucky to have.
