Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Caniff.
Christian, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well at first I was a fan of several YouTubers like vloggers, pranksters, mostly, comedy skits, and I had always dreamed of creating content like them one day, and so that led me to buy my first camera. I started my channel back in 2014, I put out small videos like public pranks and a prom proposal video which did really good. I graduated in 2015 and I was told that in order to be successful I needed to go to college and get a degree but I always knew that school wasn’t for me. So I decided to keep putting effort into my videos and on November of 2018, I was found by a big YouTube Prankster, Cassady Campbell. I was flown out to California, where we collaborated and put out a video together. His audience really liked me and thought I was pretty funny which boosted my channel to grow more. Once I knew I was exposed to a bigger audience, I kept putting videos out every week. I hit my first 100K subscribers within five months and still growing, you know, and it proved to me that anything is possible by being consistent and patient when chasing your dreams. I am now a full-time YouTuber, and I feel that this is still only the beginning.
Has it been a smooth road?
It wasn’t a smooth road at all. It was hard wanting to be consistent when I didn’t have all the time I wanted. I was still in school at the time, working long hours, I couldn’t put out as much as I wanted to, and on top of that, I still had to grow my audience which is already hard, no one will watch you just because you want them to, they will watch you because they want to watch you and because they are interested enough. So, I had to come up with something unique and different than the other creators so that I would get my own audience and not by copying others.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a full-time YouTube creator, Christian Caniff is my channel. I specialize in funny social interactions and public pranks so I’m known as an entertainer. I think I am most proud of being able to make people laugh and make their day a whole lot better, I always receive positive comments about that, and it makes me feel good. The content I create is based on unique ideas and personas combined with the real-life raw interactions is what sets me apart from others. I believe I have a good mix of raw content that is very interesting for anyone to watch, plus it is funny.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I believe Dallas is a great city for YouTubers like me. It is a big city, lots of places to go, very diverse and people here are easy-going in most areas which allows me to interact with anyone smoothly. Dallas could not be anymore perfect. For anyone starting out here, I would recommend them to find themselves first, figure out what exactly it is they want to create and then figuring out a way to be unique in their content so they can share it. What I have learned is that people don’t want to see the same thing by different people, they want to see something different each time. Basically, create something people haven’t seen.
