Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Iles.
Christian, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was attending the University of Texas at Austin some thirty plus years ago and was given a call by my father that my mother had stage 4 cancer. Though it was the beginning of my senior year; I moved home to be close to her. She said that she wanted me to be at home but she wanted me to continue my education. Well, I decided to not return to the university; rather going to beauty school in Houston, TX. Upon graduation, I was hired by Jose’ Eber to work in his Dallas, TX salon. I worked there for a year but discovered it would be much more profitable to go on my own and be an independent hairstylist and makeup artist. I have had the privilege to grow my career by working at the finest salons in Dallas; as well as been the featured hairstylist and makeup artist at ABC, Good Morning Texas for over seven years.
During that time and in the following years, I worked on a large list of A-List Celebrities and Heads of State including Condoleezza Rice, Laura Bush, Heath Ledger, Janice Dickinson, Jane Seymour, Jamie Lee Curtis, Le Ann Rimes, Jason Alexander, Naomi Judd, Patricia Cornwell and many, many more. I also had the honor of being the hairstylist and makeup artist sponsor for The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and Dallas Maverick Dancers for two years. I continue to work on celebrities and my clientele throughout the country; as well as donate my services to numerous charities through fashion shows and creation of gift bags. Currently, I am a beauty stylist at Dior Beauty, the flagship boutique for North America; located in Dallas, TX.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have always loved my job doing hair and makeup. It is such a personal thing to help people discover or even rediscover the beauty within and on the outside. The struggles that I have had along the way have primarily been with myself. The struggle has always been to believe in myself.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Christian Iles story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in meeting with clients and really listening to their needs in regards to skincare, makeup and hairstyles. I pride myself on my southern hospitality and the fact that, I treat all my clients as good as a friend. There is no limits to the lengths I will go to brighten their day, uplift their spirits and their look.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The beauty industry is changing by the minute. The biggest shift in my industry in regards to retail is that customers are primarily buying their products on-line. But, as a beauty leader in the industry, I am called upon in setting the latest trends in hair styles, skincare and hair care; as well as the products to use to get the full benefit.
