Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Danner.
Christina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I spent 10 years in public education as a teacher and Assistant Principal and truly never imagined doing anything else! I married Jesse (a teacher/coach) in 2009, and we soon started the hunt for our first home. I got connected to an incredible realtor through a real estate broker that I previously went to church with and dove right in!
After a few weeks of searching, I found the PERFECT house and sent her the listing. We went to see it, loved it, and bought it!! At closing, our realtor joked with me about how I should totally be a realtor… and I shrugged it off without a second thought… realizing that I had recently finished my Master’s degree which would have totally been a waste of time and money if I left education now.
6 months later, we went through the same situation as I helped my parents hunt for their first home… and then had the same conversation at closing. It never even crossed my mind again until 2011 when we found out I was pregnant with our first son and began to consider the options of what would allow me to stay home with our kids. (because clearly, one teacher’s salary cannot support a family) So, we met with our realtor again to get more information on what a career in real estate would really look like, did some talking and praying, and that summer I completed all of the classes to get my real estate license.
I started full-time real estate the summer of 2012 in a total step of faith… believing that God had put these pieces together for me to be able to help support our family and raise our family at the same time! And, what a wild ride it has been! I have been fortunate to work with some of the best and brightest agents and brokers along the way, learning and growing every step of the way.
So, after 5 years of full time real estate (and 3 healthy baby boys), I really felt like God was calling me to take a new step of faith and go out on my own (and out from under my comfort blanket of familiarity) and create a new brokerage that truly is a step above the rest… focused on service and integrity. Intentional about doing things the RIGHT way.
Putting people and their STORY first in the process of home ownership. And… Storybook Realty was born in the spring of 2017!! It has been the coolest time of my life to watch God literally put the pieces together before me… from the name to the agents to the logo and the territory… God’s hand has been evident every single step of the way. My goal every day is just to be a faithful steward of what He has entrusted me with. The team that He has put together is incredible, and I consider myself lucky to be able to lead them in this new venture.
We currently have 7 incredible agents that have truly become a family, and watching them grow and become successful is the highlight of every day!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely had its ups and downs. Learning how to balance the various roles in the new company keeps me on my toes. It’s also a daily challenge to make sure that I am meeting my agents at their various points of need in order to ensure their success.
I LOVE where I am at now and feel like it is such a unique culmination of my love of teaching (I get to teach my agents now), real estate (helping people accomplish their dream of homeownership is the coolest), and the administration stuff that now comes with owning and running a company.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Storybook Realty story. Tell us more about the business.
Storybook Realty is based on people. We are focused on operating on the highest level of honesty and integrity…and have composed a team of professionals to support you throughout every step of the process. Our desire is that every transaction results in happy and fulfilled clients sitting at the closing table that are excited about referring us to their friends and family because they know we’ll do the same for them!
I am also focused on teaching and equipping my agents with the skills and knowledge necessary to be able to handle the craziness that this business can throw at you with a high level of professionalism and ease to minimize stress for their clients. We all strive for success on a daily basis!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe it’s been luck. I do, however, completely believe it has been God. There is no way I could have foreseen where I am today, or so uniquely worked together all of the previous steps I have taken. It is bigger than me.
