Meet Christopher Green of Green Haus Design Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Green.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always been a graphic designer. I learned early on that I had artistic talent. I would draw pictures and construct my own toys out of household materials. I never felt my drawings were complete until I added some kind of heading or type treatment to it. But it wasn’t until my Sophomore year in college that I learned there was a name for that……Graphic Design. Wow! I had been doing that my whole life and never knew it. At that point, I became obsessed with being the best graphic designer I could be.

I graduated, worked for a few agency internship programs and spent some time actually employed by those agencies. After several years of full-time design jobs and juggling a steady flow of freelance work, I landed a job as the Art Director of the Marketing Department at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. I managed 5 other designers and was the go-to-guy for all brand management for the Star-Telegram. My team developed many marketing campaigns and worked closely with several advertising agencies that the Star-Telegram retained.

Green Haus Design Studio was always in the background. I would work nights managing my freelance projects. I have always been an entrepreneur, a self-starter, so I knew my time at the Star-Telegram would end. After many years there and so many connections made, I left and decided to give 100% of my time to my company. And the rest is history.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If you want to successfully own your own business and continually provide top-level service, it’s never going to be a smooth road.

The biggest struggle for me is finding those perfect customers who appreciate good, professional design, but know that it comes at a certain price. Not a traditional agency price, but a reasonable, fair price.

Green Haus Design Studio – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Green Haus Design Studio is a full-service agency that provides creative leadership and marketing solutions. We apply both practical and technical expertise to develop custom solutions for each client. One size does not fit all.

Green Haus prides itself on creating a solid return on their client’s investment with services that are fairly priced and commensurate with the value created. From corporate logos to brochures to website design, we deliver professional visual solutions to achieve our client’s marketing objectives. Whether it is print or interactive design, we believe that function and creativity must always work in unison.

Our competitive advantage is three-fold. We pride ourselves in being local, being responsive and creating value.

We are based here and from here. That means we are accessible and have a stake in clients’ success, throughout the project and beyond.

Our very viability depends on it, plain and simple.

We are responsive. Our promise to our client is excellent service and a positive experience & outcome every time. If an issue arises, we are just a phone call away. Literally. Should a client require onsite assistance, we provide that too. We offer the flexibility that a business owner deserves.

When we launched Green Haus Design Studio, we set out to make available traditional advertising agency level creative but not at the traditional advertising agency price point. In short, we can offer a great product at a fair price. That philosophy and our business model has been instrumental in our sustained success.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being a part of community change and global causes.

I worked closely with Dr. Debbie Rhea of the LiiNK Project to design and develop a website that clearly communicates the objective of this movement. The LiiNK Project is a program that bridges the gap between academics and the social, emotional and healthy well-being of children. It aims to develop the whole child through increased recess and character development. www.liinkproject.tcu.edu

Also working with Dr. Mike Slattery on the Planet Rhino website. Planet Rhino is an educational website that enhances both education and a greater appreciation of rhino conservation. It also provides the mechanism to direct your response in support of those non-profits on the ground. www.planetrhino.com
