Meet Danielle Franklin of Dani G in Downtown Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Franklin.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always wanted to be part of the beauty industry. I received my education at the Aveda Institute in San Antonio, Texas. I then moved to Austin to pursue my career. I chose a non-traditional salon that specialized in edgy and unique hairstyles and color. About four years later, my nephew was born and I had to be a part of his life. I moved to Fort Worth and have never regretted it. I went to work for a salon located in the cultural district of Fort Worth. I started working for an hourly rate, then commission, then started my own business. Now being behind the chair for nine years, I’ve never been afraid to follow my heart. Even when Novak Hair Studios was under construction, I knew this was where I wanted to be. I knew this was the experience I wanted for my clients. The atmosphere, the people, the philosophy of caring for the planet and for others makes Novak a wonderful place to work. I’m happy, my clients are happy and I feel like I’m part of something special.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When I moved to Austin, I chose to apply at a salon that was in the hippest part of town. However, they were not hiring. I could not take “No” for an answer, so I showed up every day and offered to sweep the floors, clean color bowls, fold towels and anything else they needed, for free. Three weeks of showing up five days a week, working ‪9 am to 5 pm‬, with no pay, finally paid off. I was offered a job. Since then, I have grown and learned that being in this Industry isn’t easy. Trends are constantly changing and everyone wants that picture perfect hair and you only have one shot. I learned to enjoy the process and to trust my instincts.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Dani G – what should we know?
I take the time to ask questions and answer every question my clients have. I want them to feel comfortable and confident that I’m listening to them. The experience is not about me. It’s about understanding that person’s vision and creating the look that’ll make them feel like a million bucks. There are several things I’m really proud of; my work ethic, the quality of my work and my ability to connect with my clients, who soon become my friends. I enjoy using different cutting, coloring and styling techniques to create my client’s vision. Bayalage and Extensions are two specialties I’m known for.
