Meet David Moderow of Big Worm Graphix in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Moderow.

Thanks for sharing your story with us David. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Started making numbers and sponsors logos for dirt track oval racing in 2000, mostly for people I raced with in the beginning. I ran the business from my living room in Azle for several years and then moved the business to Fort Worth in late 2008. When the economy got bad in 2009 the amount of people racing was almost cut in half (including me) and later that year the new 2010 Camaro came out. I went from race cars to street cars in less than a year. From 2010 on I have specialized in graphics and accessories for American sports cars like Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers and Corvettes. Over the years I also got some help, my wife (Crystal) has been very helpful by taking over the book keeping and helping with customer service. She also does the majority of our social media. About 4 years ago we found a great installer/production manager (Adam) which has really increased the amount of work we can do every week. I maintain our web site and work on new product development. We ship daily all over the United States and to other countries thru a shipping service. We also get customers that visit us from all over the country for installs of our products on their vehicles. Some customers also enjoy the attractions of the D/FW area while they are in town, several customers have gotten a Uber ride to the zoo while we work on their cars. After almost 20 years I still enjoy getting to spend my time working on cars.

Has it been a smooth road?
Taxes and other required items have been the biggest struggle since most of it does not make much sense. This became a lot easier once I could afford a lawyer, accountant and other professionals for help. This seems to be getting more and more complicated over the years.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Big Worm Graphix story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in vinyl graphics and accessories for American Sports cars (Camaros, Challengers, Mustang & Corvettes). We design and produce all of our products, where most companies resell this type of product.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Auto enthusiasts may consider older cars more as the cost and complexity of new cars continues to rise. Most car enthusiasts like to work on their own cars some and see that as part as the enjoyment of ownership. Recently manufacturers seem to want to discourage people from that and only have dealers service their cars. We are expanding our product line for older cars more and more as interest increases.
