Meet Desmun Dangerfield

Today we’d like to introduce you to Desmun Dangerfield.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a creative from Oak Cliff. I started photography in 2012 and through trials, tribulations, and strategic moves I now run a full-time media company that offers photography, videography and graphic design at the age of 26. I represent those who strive to reach their goals through whatever circumstance. I started with $50 photoshoots and I now travel doing what I love full time. I have worked with many businesses as well as institutions of higher education. I believe that great customer service is the key to a successful business.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Struggles? I slept in my car when I dropped out of college the first time while eating noodles or whatever I could get. I stayed with my pregnant friend, girlfriend, best friend, and other friends when my mom put me out in 2014. During this whole time, I was still learning about my craft. I took my refund check from college to buy a canon 5d mark II camera. Almost every person I looked up to never wanted to help me so I learned everything off of google and youtube. I dropped out again in 2015. I learned what entrepreneurship is through my lights being turned off struggling in the hot Texas summer while having nothing to eat at times. It pushed me to master my craft and learn every aspect of great business. My last semester of college after dropping out twice, I took eight classes at one time while running my fulltime business just to graduate. There are still some struggles I went through that I cannot list on here that I always share to motivate people to follow their dreams at all cost.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Dangerfield story. Tell us more about the business.
I do photography and videography all across Texas. I work full time traveling to give people what they need. I love taking whats in a client’s head and bringing it to life. My customer service sets me apart because you aren’t just “getting your pictures done”. You actually enjoy yourself with me and my crew.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wouldn’t call it luck. I am a Christian. So in my belief, everything you go through is tailored to the final product of your soul. Life itself showed me how to mature into the business-man I needed to be to tackle large-scale clients. My mistakes taught me quicker than my “congrats”. Life itself formed and shaped me into a successful individual that cares about the needs of clients.
