Meet Dr. Ed Le Cara of Body Lounge Park Cities

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Ed Le Cara.

Dr. Cara, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2013, I was removed from my dream job at 24Hr Fitness. I was among 26 other executives who lost our jobs because of restructuring and an impending sale. As the former VP of Sports Science and Human Performance, I was devasted by losing this position. Not seeing my friends every day and continuing my passion for helping others achieve optimal health thru diet and exercise was a tough pill to swallow. To make matters worse, I had left the VA hospital and sold my clinic to join 24Hr just a few months earlier with a non-compete clause in the entire SF Bay Area. In addition, my seven year marriage ended. Needing a fresh start, I relocated to Dallas to start a new clinic with a friend who was from here. Once in Dallas, I started attending 6:30 am CrossFit classes and became friends with the other regulars. One of those friends is Copper Dallas. Yes, that is her real last name!

Fast forward a couple of years. Copper was going thru a divorce and was preparing to start her own business around medical aesthetics and wellness programs. She asked if I was interested in opening the business with her. I said yes and that is where Body Lounge Park Cities was born. We knew we wanted to open in University Park so we looked for retail space in Snider Plaza. We found our perfect location and recruited other locals to come work with us. What is really cool is everyone who works at Body Lounge is from the local area. Copper has two children who attend University Park Elementary and we live in and serve University Park and the surrounding area. We love running into our clients around town or at the kid’s events. I am happy being back helping others achieve optimal health thru diet and exercise. After two years we continue to grow and keep expanding our services.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No business is ever smooth. We self-funded because we didn’t want to take on debt and answer to anyone else. COVID-19 has been difficult for our company. We closed for a while and had limited openings for a long time. We are slowly starting to see business pick back up again.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Body Lounge Park Cities – what should we know?
We are a boutique medical clinic who specializes in medical aesthetics and wellness. We emphasize customer service above all else. What sets us apart is the owners are here every day serving our clientele. We have our cell phone numbers on our cards so we can be reached at any time when people need us.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Katina Thornton, MD is a local Mom of six and agreed to be our Medical Director. Her vision of diet and exercise being paramount for healthy living was congruent with our beliefs.

Leigh Patton, NP is our awesome nurse injector who is also a local Mom with 3 children in the UP district. Leigh has been instrumental with our growth in the medical aesthetics department.
