Meet Ebony Lewis of Ebony Lewis Art in Downtown and South Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Lewis.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, I have always had an artistic gift since I was little. As far as painting though it started around 9th grade my father actually passed away and I was looking for a creative avenue to express myself. So one day my mother and I walked into Hobby Lobby and they were offering classes and the rest is history.

Has it been a smooth road?
It defiantly has not been a smooth ride. The biggest struggle with being an artist is creating a style and being confident enough to stick with it. Not everyone is going to understand or like your work. I had to learn that the people that want to buy my work are supposed to buy it. I never want to have to chase clients, I would rather them chase me. I need the Jay-Z in the room, not the Lil. Pump’s.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Ebony Lewis Art story. Tell us more about the business.
Ebony Lewis Art is a custom fine art and entertainment company. The cornerstone of Ebony Lewis Art business is high-quality custom art in a timely fashion. Ebony Lewis Art is founded on a dedication to providing exclusivity and innovative pieces to the Dallas Ft. Worth area and internationally. The most innovative, trend-setting designs and a finished product of impeccable quality at unmatched speeds.

I am most proud of a recent project with the city of Dallas called the Dallas Bus Stop Project. This was a collaborative effort with the Mayor Star Counsel Neiman Marcus and Dart to create a public installation at a Bus stop in the Queen City.

What sets me apart is that I offer custom 1 of 1 original art, in contrast to the industry replication art. I also am active in my community with a variety of charity donations and collaborations to support women in the arts as well as beautify the city.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I actually see my industry climbing due to the increase in political involvement and the push for cultural and financial investments. There is no other voice like an artist and art is an investment that has consistently increased over time.
