Meet Felicia Foster of Felicia’s Fashions in South Arlington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Foster.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Felicia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Since I was a young child, I remember clothing and fashion being something I really enjoyed. Like most little girls, I loved playing “dress up” in my mom’s closet. I’m telling my age here but for those who remember the Ebony Fashion Fair models, I would cut images out of the magazine and imagine I was one of the models, modeling the elegant gowns and hats. Oh how fun that was! Fast forward to my teenage years I experimented with dress styles of bohemian chic, retro, and hip hop. Now in my middle age years my fashion style is whatever I’m feeling at the moment, I just love fashion in general! What led me to where I am today is my love for thrift shopping and fashion! I know the joy I feel when I find a pre-loved item and make it my own, so I thought what better way to share the joy then to have my very own store, and I accomplished that through my online store on the Poshmark website and app.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not easy at all. For several years, I enjoyed watching the journey of social media influencers and I desired to try my hand in blogging. For the most part, I liked it but it wasn’t my true niche. I soon realized my social media presence was fashion-driven. I do feel that set me back because if I started my fashion business years ago, who knows where I could be now. But I must not look back, all I can do is start anew and look ahead. I’m in a sense starting from scratch but it’s okay because I love what I’m doing so the struggle is well worth it.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Felicia’s Fashions – what should we know?
My business is Felicia’s Fashions and I’m an online store on social media. Some of the items I resell are from my personal closet and other items are gems I picked up while thrift shopping. I specialize in reselling, which I view it as my very own thrift store. How cool! What I’m most proud of is starting a business in the first place, but that’s the keyword, “starting”. It’s a lot of hard work but I try to keep the balance. What sets me apart is I’m being myself. There are numerous business owners trying to make their mark on the web, and the way I dress, present myself is just being me. There’s something for everyone and every taste. You will find my business on Poshmark at @feesfashions19. Soon, I may extend my closet to other platforms, but for now, just Poshmark.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Patience, being genuine, having endurance, staying committed, building my brand, connecting with my customers, supporting other small businesses and getting that support in return.
