Meet Holly Byrd Miller of Makeup by Holly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Byrd Miller.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Holly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Makeup by Holly, LLC was founded out of a sheer necessity to show young girls and women their real beauty comes from the inside out. As a woman who struggled with low self-esteem and lack of confidence, I know first-hand how lack of confidence can shape bad decisions and fuel self-sabotage. It all began when I was a pudgy little girl whose nickname was Porky. The nickname coined at such a young age fed the insecurities I carried into my young adult life.

I am thankful I overcame my insecurities, which gives me the undeniable urge to help others do the same. I encounter young girls and women on a daily basis who struggle with lack of confidence and low esteem. I am currently following my Passion and Purpose of changing their perception of themselves, by not only providing beauty services that allow them to look their best on the outside, but feel their best on the inside. Makeup by Holly, LLC DBA Makeup by Holly Beauty Partners is a team of traveling, professional, licensed and certified artists who share beauty and confidence everywhere we go! We provide hairstyling, makeup services, personal fashion styling, Beauty education, and training for corporate events, fundraisers, Branding, Marketing, speaking engagements, weddings, and all other special occasions.

Our goal is to reach as many young girls and women as we can. We want them to have a transformational “experience” that not only gives them gorgeous photogenic looks, but more importantly, confidence that radiates from the inside-out.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been easy. I started my beauty empire as a side hustle, which meant there were many long nights, due to the fact that I worked full time during the day. There was no blueprint for how to build a Beauty Empire, so, everything I learned, I learned from the sweat equity I put in to understand the landscape of the Beauty Industry; to figure out the battle between labor, time and value. I spent many long nights and weekends working- taking time from my husband and my family.

I had to stop “dabbling” in the makeup world, to turn it into a successful empire. I had to learn how to “deal” in an industry where there is a commodity factor to it and find a way to stand out. I learned one of the best ways to accomplish standing out, was to not follow the status quo. I took 20 years of corporate experience, and applied it to building my business – one client at a time, and finding a niche that no one else was filling. All the while, giving beauty professionals the tools, resources, and more importantly business opportunities that are allowing them to grow their businesses, their network, and their business acumen.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Makeup by Holly, LLC DBA Makeup by Holly Beauty Partners – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a professional makeup artist with over 20 years of experience. I am most proud of the fact that I am able to travel throughout the country educating women and young girls on the fundamentals of makeup artistry, and how to achieve their beauty goals.

Because we work with such a diverse clientele, training is mandatory and, therefore, Makeup by Holly Beauty Partners participates in continuing education workshops and seminars throughout the year. We have trained with some of the most highly-regarded Beauty professionals in the industry. Our vast experience and training have afforded us the opportunities to train at Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, MAC Cosmetics, Makeup Artist Studio, LB Beauty and Training Academy, and the Make Up For Ever New York Academy.  We have trained 1:1 with Reggie Wells (Oprah Winfrey’s former makeup artist), hands-on with Derrick Rutledge (Oprah Winfrey’s current makeup artist), Master Class with Sir John (Beyoncé’s makeup artist) and certified Dream Catchers Stylists, brand ambassadors for Laura Mercier, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani Beauty, Motives Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics, Shu Uemura, Estee Lauder, Bare Escentuals, ULTA, Urban Decay, Too Faced, Tarte, Smashbox, Christian Dior, La Prairie, Benefit, Stila, and Lancome.

Our passion for all-things beauty allows us to engage with all who dare to be beautiful, bold, confident and empowered. The team is known for our unparalleled professionalism and customer service.
