Thanks for sharing your story with us Jayne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have an engineering and business management background. I started out in corporate. After working there for years, I wanted to run a startup company. At first, it was to have a better understanding of what startups do. Also, it was to grow beyond semiconductor circuit design, which is a microscopic part of concept to product, to the entire process of conception, design, manufacturing, and seeing the final product in the hands of customers.
Later when Video Storm became quite successful, the goal was to have more time and flexibility while making innovative products. While it is quite the undertaking, it has taught me a lot about business acumen, customer relationships, and staying on the leading edge of technology.
Video Storm is an audio video electronics company. We design, build, and manufacture electronics targeted at residential and commercial installs.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Video Storm has faced many challenges over the years to start and grow the business. First it was electronics board design, then enclosures, and finished products. Getting traction in an established industry to build a name was also crucial for growth. Most importantly, it was finding personal satisfaction in the work I do and finding that work life balance I could not have in corporate.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Video Storm – what should we know?
Video Storm LLC specializes in design, manufacturing, and sale of professional quality video and audio distribution devices for the custom electronics industry.
Our first products specifically designed for custom installers were introduced in 2003. Since then we have released more than 50 AV distribution solutions and continue to innovate new products for the ever-changing market and customer demand.
Video Storm strives to keep all our design and manufacturing within the USA. Our dealer support is highly technical and provides personal service on a first name basis.
We enjoy working with smaller companies to provide their customers with highly differentiated and reliable solutions. We make customer service our top priority.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are a small and nimble company that constantly adjust to the changing electronics business. We started out with building large component video and audio matrix switches for centralized distribution of video and audio.
Later as the market changed to HDMI, Video Storm quickly re-targeted our strategy to move into HDMI over IP network arena with a fluid and customizable solution, allowing video distribution from any number of sources (cable, AppleTV, Blu-ray, etc) to any number of TVs along with integrated system control. We also threw in many features such as video streaming to tablets, video walls for watching ball games, digital signage for custom banners, tiling of security cameras, etc. This quickly became popular in sports bars across the U.S. and large homes.
We have recently released a new product IRUSB which can supercharge your trusty IR remotes, allowing them to control everything in your home, even your cloud controlled devices!
