Thanks for sharing your story with us Jennifer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I like to say that I have the best job, helping women celebrate their birthdays is so rewarding! BirthdayPak was launched in the Ft. Worth area in 2014. I was a BirthdayPak recipient myself and loved getting my BirthdayPak! It is a fun idea and a great way to celebrate your day with gift cards from local businesses. In April 2017, I unexpectedly experienced a company layoff from my current employer. My birthday is in May, so I received my BirthdayPak. One day I was at lunch with some friends, using one of my BirthdayPak gift cards. We were talking about my situation. One of my friends told me that the current franchise owner for BirthdayPak was looking to sell the franchise and she thought it would be perfect for me. I have an extensive background in advertising sales and marketing, worked for the Ft. Worth Star Telegram, Indulge Magazine and other local publications. I began to research and reached out to the corporate office for BirthdayPak. The more I learned the more excited I got, it seemed like a great match! My husband has owned his own business for over 20 years. He was a big supporter, always saying to me to find something I love doing and be my own boss. I made the decision to purchase the DFW franchise and took over effective August 2017. This past year, I have been focusing hard to make BirthdayPak the best it can be for the areas that were already launched in Tarrant County. I’m looking forward to growing and bringing BirthdayPak to the ladies in Dallas. Through my Facebook page, it is fun to connect with the ladies that receive BirthdayPak, hearing how much they love it! It is rewarding to work with local businesses in this unique marketing platform, hearing from them how well it is working by bringing in new customers and increasing their revenue.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The transition from the previous owner to myself was a smooth one. She was very helpful in training me, and with my background in advertising sales, it was easy to learn the BirthdayPak operation. The BirthdayPak corporate office is in Springfield, Pennsylvania just outside of Philadelphia. I spent a week there in training. It was great to meet the corporate team in person, they are very supportive and great to work with. It has not come without some challenges as a first-time business owner. With any change in business, there are always some challenges. Mine was in working to make it my own, adding new content and clients that I knew the ladies would love to see in BirthdayPak. I have worked hard to bring great restaurants to BirthdayPak, including the new Fixe Southern House which opened recently in Ft. Worth’s new upscale The Shops at Clearfork. My goal is to launch into Dallas in 2018 and excited to bring BirthdayPak to the women in this area!

As a BirthdayPak recipient myself, I loved getting mine! It was a nice surprise and a great way to help celebrate my birthday. I’m proud to be a part of this growing and award-winning franchise. BirthdayPak is based just outside of Philadelphia, with franchises across the country. Our continued growth is exciting to see as we bring BirthdayPak to more women!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My background in advertising sales has been a great fit for BirthdayPak. I love getting out and meeting with clients, helping them with their marketing and hearing the results they see. It takes someone who is willing to get out into the field, get to know the businesses in the communities and willing to work hard. But the payoff is so rewarding!
