Meet JerLisa Nicole of Lil Girl Blue

Today we’d like to introduce you to JerLisa Nicole.

JerLisa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Having a creative outlet has always been a big thing for me. Whether that is through my clothing, my hair, the atmosphere around me, I want to make sure my unique presence is felt. Sneakers are my first love. My mom was a basketball player, so I grew up in an assortment of the coolest shoes from birth. This love of shoes translated into a love of fashion because every dope kick needs an outfit to compliment it. After years of helping friends find shoes or styling them for their birthdays and special events, it felt right to share my passion on a grander scale. Thus the stylist was born. With fashion and sneakers, I needed somewhere to be seen. Once I joined the nightlife industry, I fell in love with creating events and party ideas to go along with the looks I had in store. Within a year of hard work and having fun, I’ve made a pretty decent wave for myself in the Dallas party community, which inspired me to create my own lane.

With so many creative ventures and services to offer, it made the most sense to have everything in a central location. So I created Lil Girl Blue as a way to express myself and create a unique unapologetically.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Anything worth having will have its highs and lows. The biggest battle is with me. I’ve had to conquer simple things that I dislike to be successful. My major hangup was not wanting to model. I love being behind the scenes directing a shoot, and making sure the clothing translates well on camera. With Instagram and style in general, I have to be seen more than I’m used to. Enjoying photographs and videos was one of my first big hurdles to get through. A lot of the time we talk ourselves out of greatness because of subconscious insecurities. What if my outfit is too creative? What if the event concept doesn’t make sense? Will the client agree with my vision? I’ve practiced reminding myself of the vision I originally had and appreciating the beauty of the end result. The confidence naturally rebuilds itself from there.

We’d love to hear more about Lil Girl Blue.
Lil Girl Blue is the home of all of my fashion and styling things. Right now I offer fashion styling and wardrobe services for any occasion. I’ve done simple photoshoots for friends, grabbed and curated looks for influencer shoots, and worked with music artists around the DFW. I’m a tomboy, so my style is very urban and streetwear, which is something that is seen in all of my looks. Both on myself and clients. My favorite service is sneaker finding and matching. I love it when people ask me to help them get into sneakers. We go through what they love and hate about shoes, colors, styles, and most importantly, the history behind some of these retro kicks. I think its important for any sneakerhead to understand why some of these releases mean so much to the community so when starting out its one of my first lessons. I can spend days and days helping people build looks around sneakers, for any occasion.

My latest venture is the Wavelength. I recently started my own event company, so that I can bring something new to the Dallas nightlife scene. I love the city and the way that we party, but I miss having a variety. With Wavelength my main focus is pop up parties and dinners. Somewhere that includes a theme so that people can play with different fashions and overall vibes for a short time without having to leave town.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has played a small role in life and business. I have been lucky and blessed to quickly become friends and associates with many people who have been eager to help me grow as a business and as a person. With these new connections also comes to work. I’ve shown up and done the work to make sure that the people that have helped me along the way feel appreciated for their service.
