Today we’d like to introduce you to Joel Corado.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
14 years ago I moved to the States from Guatemala in search of an opportunity. While seeking to improve myself, I sought out fitness education and training. After personally achieving great success it fueled my desire to help others to transform their lives. I started with 1 on 1 personal training, then moved to training small groups in a church parking lot before building up a large enough client base reputation to be able to open up my own studio.
Seeing my clients persistence and drive to keep working out and improving themselves despite their struggles and despite their wanting to give up at times inspires me to keep growing as an individual and as a business. Every time I compare one of their before pictures with their after pictures I get excited! I love seeing the results, the changes in their bodies and the changes in their lives as they get stronger and gain more confidence in themselves and their abilities.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been easy. From the beginning learning a new language and how to operate a business in the States has been challenging. It’s one thing to learn English and another to feel comfortable speaking in front people and knowing that they understand you.
Starting from scratch and building a client base meant I started with training people outdoors, sometimes in a parking lot. This is challenging because you want to come across as professional and a legit business – without having actual training facilities. So this meant I had to work even harder to make sure that my clients were buying into “me”. They had to really believe in me and the program before I got to the point of having an actual studio.
And when I opened my location there was still the struggle of being a 1-man operation, since until the business grows to a certain point you’re not able to hire additional staff. So this means I was responsible for all the marketing, the training, and the administrative work. 16 hour days became the norm.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Corado Fitness – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are in the business of changing lives through fitness. Corado Fitness specializes in group personal training sessions. We believe in fitness through motivation, inspiration, and challenging your body every time. Sure, we’ll challenge you, but you will always have fun, and feel supported every step of the way!
Our sessions combine High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and Active Rest to burn maximum fat, tone your body and give you the coveted AFTER BURN effect so you can continue to burn fat for up to 24 hours after your workout.
We pride ourselves on our safe and welcoming community (our Fit Fam), life is a team sport and to be surrounded by supportive like minds is essential for success! And have you ever stuck with anything for long that you didn’t enjoy?
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our plan for the future is to expand to multiple locations while continuing to maintain our excellent level of client support and training. We want to ensure that the “Corado Fitness experience” is not lost when our members visit alternate locations so that we can continue to help transform their lives in a positive manner.
