Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua and Yesi Fortuna.
Joshua and Yesi, please share your story with us.
We officially got our start in the beginning of 2017. We both knew that we were better together and each had a set of skills that directly complimented each other. Yesi had a very clear vision of what the future could potentially be with Fort Lion Studio. With complete trust Joshua followed. Still within 2 years of conception, we’ve been able to craft creative content for brands both local and global such as Dr. Pepper, Brown Girls Do Ballet, & Dallas Modern Luxury.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The hardest part to working with your husband/wife is not letting work take over your marriage or even personal feelings interfere with work. We have learned to express ourselves in a manner that is productive without sending the other one off the edge. We are certain it will always be a learning process but we’re always up for a challenge!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fort Lion Studio – what should we know?
Fort Lion Studio specializes in bridging gaps. The gaps between commercial and lifestyle and between huge anonymous agencies and local individuals. Our work tends to fall mostly in the realm of fashion and portrait. We saw a trend in Dallas wherein people became talented/successful and would move to either NY or LA. We wanted to change that by staying here and Dallas did not disappoint. We were so amazed at how many thriving businesses were in our own backyard and appreciated talent being local versus producing in a different time zone.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
We wouldn’t be where we are today without the people that underestimated us, second guessed us, and didn’t see our potential. Having the drive to prove them wrong helped us to push our limits. We’ve absolutely had some cheerleaders with our family and friends, but the drive is stronger when there is something to prove.
