Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlin Waller.

Kaitlin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story is quite simple for those of you who don’t know. I started out with a little dream of owning my own boutique. After many prayers, God made this dream my new reality. I have had a passion for what I do for quite some time; ever since I was a little girl. Growing up here in downtown Rockwall there wasn’t many places to go and shop. I always would drive by thinking one day it would be my day to see my name up on one of those stores.

Blessed is simply an understatement. Since opening almost three years ago, my business has grown far more than my expectations! To see my little dream come to life before my eyes has me in awe each and every day!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think with being an owner of your own boutique comes with many different struggles and triumphs. You never know what the future is going to hold and if your dream will even take off.

In my opinion, if you stick with your business plan and go with what your heart tells you, then you can face any bump in the road that might come your way.

Simply Kate – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Simply Kate is a unique boutique in downtown Rockwall. I have a passion for what I do each and every day and I strive to keep my boutique different than the rest.

Most people know me for my handmade jewelry. Here at the boutique you will find tons of different one if a kind jewelry pieces that I have made by hand! It’s different, unique, and of course still trendy to what’s “in” for the season, but it gives a unique flair that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. At Simply Kate, customers can easily match up outfits on my jewelry wall featured hundreds of necklaces and earrings that range in color, length, and style! I am most proud of keeping this aspect of “made local” in my jewelry and other creations! It’s through making by local products and shopping local that help us small businesses thrive and stand out from our big box retailers.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
It’s so hard to narrow my proudest moment down to just one. If I had to pick it would be a downtown Christmas event that took place last year. As I had all my girls working frivolously to wrap packages and tie bags with Christmas bows, I couldn’t stop but look around and see the whole community packed outside and flowing into my shop. The smiles, the laughter, and the stories I get to share with customers are priceless! I would’ve never guessed that 3 years ago I would’ve been standing here in my own boutique working towards my big dream! It shows that no matter what your dreams are that you can accomplish them by working hard and believing in yourself. I am so blessed that the good Lord had this plan for me!
