Meet Kalyn Mastin of Kalyn Shae Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalyn Mastin.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kalyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always really enjoyed photography and started doing it as a hobby in high school. After graduating, I got a corporate job and was there for a few years while still doing photography on the side. I knew I was meant to be doing more and I wasn’t truly happy. In 2014, I decided to take a complete leap of faith and put in my two week notice to be able to dedicate a hundred percent of my time into creating and building a business. It hasn’t been easy at times, but I have been doing photography full time ever since and wouldn’t change a thing!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When I started my business, I had NO clue what I was doing. It was a really big struggle not only to do the actual job itself and be happy with the work I was producing for clients, but also maintain the business side of it. I had to learn so much about running a business and all the office part of it. It’s was a challenge but I learned so much along the way and am a better business owner for it.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m a photographer specializing in wedding and boudoir photography. My style is known for the light, airy and romantic feel I deliver to clients. I love capturing timeless images for clients to love and cherish a lifetime. I am available for travel around the United States and even internationally! I adore traveling and being able to photograph new people in new places. The experience of being a client with Kalyn Shae Photography stands out from others because of the personal connection I make with each couple or client. Most clients end up being lifelong friends! I take the time to get to know each person because it’s important that they’re comfortable with me and can be themselves during a session or wedding.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was a total social butterfly. Not much has changed! I become friends with just about everyone who I meet and can have a conversation with anyone. I enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cheerleading, dance, athletics and overall constantly staying active!
