Meet Karis Renee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karis Renee.

Brand Ambassador and Digital Influencer Karis Renee has always thrived in the fashion industry.

After trading in her technical design skills and resigning from a multi-million dollar fashion company as a marketing executive, Karis found her true passion styling photo shoots, ghostwriting for influential women and brands, creating killer content, and inspiring more women to explore their personal style.

Starting off her career as a designer turned marketing executive turned wardrobe stylist, she logged in years of editorial shoots with fashion publications and clients. In 2016, the creative influencer founded her blog KarisRenee.com to chronicle her lifestyle adventures, professional goals, and personal style. Karis also launched her social media channels to help inspire others and provide a casual platform for daily interaction.

Styling, editing, and photography fuels Karis’ passion. The creative junkie is notorious for sharing her personal style, runway trends, beauty secrets, and fashion tips & tricks. She has worked with clients in RTW, accessories, beauty, hospitality, and travel – her diverse experience and worldview attract more than 350,000 followers across all of her channels & she is reaching over 1.4 million more with her latest position as Editor for World Bride Magazine. World Bride welcomed Karis to the editorial staff only a few months before her own October wedding to actor, Blake McNamara.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No one business or professional journey is perfect, and Karis believes that hers is still in progress. “It always will be. As I grow and learn more about myself and the various industries that I’m able to work with, I take a whole new step forward!”, Renee says.

“I believe that no road is without a few bumps along the way”, Karis continues, “One of my most challenging struggles was balancing my 9-5 job in corporate America while also working for myself as an independent marketing influencer and contract stylist. It was very very taxing to commit myself to different fields that were all important to me. While all of my work has been related to a certain degree, it got to a point where I had to make a choice, and it was frightening to have to make the decision to leave my office job and bet on myself. But it was the best decision that I’ve made in my career so far, and this is just the beginning!”

Her advice for other young women who are just starting their journeys is to ALWAYS have a safety net. “When you are young,” Karis says, “you just have more energy! You have more bandwidth to diversify your skillset & your income. So, you can stay out late partying, OR you can build a side business to fall back on if you need to make a change. Depending on how you manage your time, you can even do both! But be strategic about your transition if you really do want to work for yourself or make more time to spend putting into your business. Put in the work, and you will reap the benefits.”

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a media and marketing specialist, and I work for myself as a digital influencer in travel, fashion & lifestyle as well as marketing director for other Dallas businesses (from plastic surgery to entertainment television). I am also a buyer, merchandiser, and manager for my online boutique Karis’ Kloset on Poshmark, where I share my style with friends, family, and followers as well as sharing my experiences as a young entrepreneur and brand ambassador.

I’m known for my positive energy and for being a dependable content creator, putting an aesthetically pleasing spin on various products & services for improved marketing reach across platforms. With a background in apparel design and styling, I always try to apply a creative spin on any project that I work on, and this unique quality is what I enjoy bringing to the table for the strongest presentation.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success, for me, is personally defined by the amount of peace that I have after completing a task. Whether it be professionally or in my personal life, I love to live a lifestyle unhindered by dread, dissatisfaction, or dropping the ball. As an independent marketing influencer, there are TONS of new brands, businesses, and teams that I get the pleasure of working with. Along with each opportunity, though, there also comes an increase in outside opinions, and this can be the downfall of an individual who builds a brand around their personal image. However, I always try to center myself in my tasks and rightly divide my priorities based on my skillset. How can I produce the best presentation possible without risk or detriment to my mental health or personal life.

Some people may live their lives to work their dream jobs. But I work my dream jobs in order to live my real life. Personal satisfaction is a high priority for me when it comes to defining success. So, as long as I’ve gained a thorough understanding of what a brand or client may need creatively, I can then adapt that into content that can be used to communicate an effective message. That being said, when I accomplish this goal without amplifying my anxiety, I consider it a success.
