Kristi and Stacie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Stacie: It all started with my Mom. In 2001 she became ill, and I brought her into my home and began taking care of her. It took doctors a few months to determine what was wrong with her. Diagnosis: Multiple Sclerosis. Then began our long journey of illness and the hamster wheel of traditional medicine with an incurable disease. For 15 years, I researched alternative methods to the muscle relaxers, spasm blockers, and pain meds my mother was on. Five different drugs, all interacting, that did nothing to help the pain but did knock her out. So drugged and not being able to hold her head up and have a conversation, she didn’t care. I did. Almost at my wit’s end, I was introduced to hemp-based CBD. I was willing to try almost anything. We started with the balm and a few drops of CBD oil. The CBD began to work. Today, Mom’s pain is under control. She is now off ALL of her pain medications!!
Mother’s multiple sclerosis changed our lives. While CBD will never take her multiple sclerosis away, it does make her pain more manageable with a natural product, and my job as her caretaker less stressful. When the Hemp Farming Act of 2018 passed, I couldn’t allow the opportunity pass to help others who suffer from minor ailments to more serious and painful diseases. The idea began to open our own hemp-based CBD store that carries the highest quality, high-end wellness products.
Kristi: My journey with CBD oil began after years of searching for the right solution to my sweet dog’s various issues, which included severe skin allergies, anxiety, hip & joint issues, etc. A friend told me she had just started using CBD oil for her fur baby’s anxiety. So, I started to do my own research to find the right product for our sweet pups. I found a product I liked and within two weeks of regular use, we found a significant improvement in both our dogs.
I began to take CBD myself for better sleep and overall wellness. Within minutes of taking CBD oil, I could feel it working. My husband swears by CBD topical salves to help him with aches and pains, like muscle soreness and tendinitis, saying that within minutes he can feel the difference. This is what I hear from people over and over again… how quickly they feel relief!
When my friend of 21 years (Stacie) asked if I would be interested in opening a CBD wellness business, I didn’t hesitate and said absolutely. So we began the process of finding the right grower/producer of the CBD we wanted to carry in our store. We would not settle for less than a super clean product that we would feel comfortable not only using ourselves but giving to our loved ones.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been mostly smooth. We’ve always approached our business with the attitude of “you don’t know what you don’t know.” No matter how much planning you do, there is always something you didn’t think of or something you encounter that you’ve never encountered before. You just have to be ready to pivot and know that you are making the best decisions you can with the information that you have.
No one could have prepared for the impact of Covid. We had to figure out what would work under the directives given by our government, so we quickly went to free shipping on all online orders as well as free same-day local delivery within 10miles of our store. We felt this was in the best interests of our customers. We have since adjusted these delivery options now that we’re fully open again. We are continually changing and modifying our business plan based on what we are seeing in the marketplace and with our customer’s feedback..
