Today we’d like to introduce you to Leigh Ann Barba.

Leigh Ann, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I originally started taking photos of my kids as a lot of photographers do. That eventually evolved into their friends asking for their pictures to be taken which eventually evolved into a business. I specialize in senior photography and wedding photography now. I enjoy capturing real moments in weddings and I pride on making my seniors feel like the best versions of themselves in front of the camera.

Has it been a smooth road?
So far (knock on wood) everything has been great! I genuinely enjoy the people I work with and capturing important times in their life. I only advertise on social media and through word of mouth so most of the people that come to me are a referral of a friend or past client. I get tons of amazing people who I have become friends with which is a huge perk!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Leigh Ann Barba Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in working with seniors and weddings. Senior photography has my heart, When I was in high school I just never felt confident in myself. I was always my harshest critic no matter how well I did. I see those same things happening to the kids that are in high school now. It is magnified due to social media and the unending pressure to achieve the looks and fame of celebrities on social media. I love taking them for a day and glamming them up, putting them in their amazing outfits and then just doting on them during their session.

I love getting to know them and using their passions to make their photos unique to them. I hope that at the end of every session they feel as beautiful as I see them! I think I am unique as a senior photographer because I develop a relationship with the kids I photograph and talk to many of them after they graduate.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I am actually taking a cutting-edge senior workshop this month and will begin to incorporate the things I learn there into my current style.

I want to eventually have a couture closet for my clients to choose from. I see myself starting to move towards a blend of portrait and editorial style. One major thing I would love is to begin traveling for senior sessions and have destination shoots.
