Today we’d like to introduce you to Lijuan Jing.

Lijuan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Starting this business was actually quite unexpected for me. I had taken my kids to the library and was browsing through when I found a book on knitting. It peaked my interest and soon enough I had bought another book, started learning, and eventually started my business. Getting from there to where my business is at today, I’ve stressed the importance of paying attention to our customers as well as stretching the creative mind so that I can continue to create new and different designs for our customers.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Like most businesses, it has not been a smooth road all the way. I would say one of the most encountered struggles is managing the workload of a whole business with only two people. Sometimes it can get overwhelming especially when other problems mix themselves in such as late shipments or yarn being produced not up to my expectations leading to multiple trials before high quality results come out.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Jojoland story. Tell us more about the business.
Jojoland is a yarn manufacturing company focused on producing high quality yarn. Our uniqueness as a company comes through in the way we mix and match various colors in the yarn design, the softness of our yarn, and the use of both geometric and organic patterns and shapes in designing our pieces. We also pride ourselves on our customer service- always putting the customer first and striving to meet their needs.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck played its role when we first started our business. We started right at the rise of the industry- more people were getting interested, shops were starting up, and new yarn and knitting techniques were being developed. The timing of all of these worked well in our favor and helped in making our business into what it is today.
