Meet Lisbeth Moreland of Face Studio Garland in Garland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisbeth Moreland.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I spent many years in Sales & Marketing, I attended the Art Institute of Dallas with my Degree in Fashion Merchandising & Marketing. I had many great years as an Apparel Buyer, later going into Sales, Sales Management & Training. I loved being the person that “solved the problems” and helped people learn how to go out and make a good life for their family.

I was introduced to Permanent Cosmetics & Eyelash Extensions around 2007 when my mom and I were at a Dallas Women’s Expo and we both won a permanent makeup procedure thru a drawing. I chickened out and my mom went ahead and had her brows & lips done. She said it was extremely painful, so I was glad I chickened out. A few years later I heard about Eyelash Extensions and started to wear them. I LOVED THEM! They made life so much easier. I was still in Sales & Training so I was in & out of my vehicle all day sweating off my mascara.

Not long after, my youngest children graduated and I decided I was done with Corporate America and wanted to work for myself. I was first trained in Eyelash Extensions and didn’t enjoy it at all. So I kept contemplating what I wanted to do. The School I went to, to get certified in Eyelash Extensions also taught Permanent Make-up. After a lot of thought I decided to go to their school. I feel in love with it instantly.

When I got out of school I went to work immediately and before long I was on a 2 week wait. At this point I was doing Eyelash Extensions & Permanent Cosmetics. I was in love. We expanded our location within a year and moved to the Firewheel area where we work out of the Firewheel Salons.

I am now also a Certified National Eyelash Extension trainer for a national Eyelash Company. My main focus when I train is teaching students what I didn’t learn in my Eyelash Extension Training that was essential to my success. I am certified by 5 different companies and each company left out very “KEY” elements to learning the art of Lashing.

I was afraid since I was so active in the Sales field I would be bored out of my mind sitting all day gluing a lash on a lash. Now, it’s my “Zen”. I love lashing and doing permanent Make up! I love making life easier for women in the morning. Make up doesn’t melt off in this Texas heat, get outta the pool with make up on, outdoor sports events are so much more enjoyable for women. Because now, you don’t have to worry about your makeup running down your face. “Wake up with Make-up”. It’s the only way to go.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s not been a smooth road. I decided to make this transition as I was getting a divorce, my two youngest kids graduating high school and moving all at the same time. It really takes a village! I had so much help from family & friends. Also, I had started dating my now husband, he had been doing tattoos recreationally for a while so he was able to step in and help with the Permanent Cosmetics.

In 2011, I got severely ill when my Colon shut down, had my Gall bladder taken out and Pancreatitis. I was hospitalized for a total of 5 weeks. I thought I would have to shut down my business. I couldn’t work at all. With the help of my family, husband and salon landlord we made it.

To date, we have had over 5,000 customers since we opened and now some of those customers still come back to us for touch ups, new procedures & Eyelash Extensions.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am looking forward to expanding my customer base. We have customers that drive long distances to come get our services. We love that!! This weekend I have 4 ladies driving in from Kerrville, TX to get 2 procedures a piece done. That’s what I love the most, are the friends I have made. I love when my customers come give me a hug before they leave. My customers are the best.

I love learning new procedures, but my customers love that we “specialize” and don’t offer a hundred different services. I think it lets them know we are experts and take our business seriously.
