Today we’d like to introduce you to Lomesh Patel.
Lomesh, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Photography was always a passion for me, however, I never imagined it would ever be a turned into a business. For me, the wedding photography started with a bit of luck and a lot of hard work. I have to thank my wife for getting me into the business of photography. It all started when I took a few photos of her and posted on Facebook. When a few of my friends saw the photos they asked me if I would do their engagement photos. I was a little hesitant, but I agreed. After their photos were posted on Facebook. a few of their friends approached me and little did I know, I was on my way to starting a photography business.
After a few engagement sessions, I finally got my first ever wedding! While completely thrilled, I was a nervous wreck. I had no prior wedding photography experience or I had never second shot a wedding for anyone. This was a multi-day Indian wedding with six different events including wedding and reception. With a lot of hard work and God’s grace, the wedding was a success and from their, I never looked back.
In 2012, I added another team member, Radhika. She came from no prior photography experience, but she was very passionate about learning it. Radhika and I have an amazing chemistry working together and the success of the company is due to our hard work and continuous drive to learn and be the best!
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting anything new is challenging and my journey was no exception. When I started wedding photography, I had no idea about the wedding industry. I had never worked as an assistant for any wedding or any event for that matter. I started my journey with South Asian weddings. Being from the culture, I knew that South Asian weddings are multiple days events; what I didn’t realize is that when you are a vendor at a wedding, how fast everything moves. This was the biggest challenge I had to overcome, getting used to the wedding environment as a vendor. It took some time, but finally, I figured out a good workflow that works for me.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the lomeshpatel Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
At lomeshpatel Photography, we exclusively deal with South Asian weddings. Our motto is “Modern Style. Traditional Values.” When we shoot, we keep it simple, yet elegant. What this means is that we know what the parents are looking for and what our couple is looking for. The new generation wants photos that tell a unique story of their wedding day, and that’s exactly what we do; we tell a story from their perspective. At the same time, we know the traditional photos that the parents are looking for so we create a fine balance of these two.
Here at lomeshpatel Photography, we pride ourselves in giving each and every client a truly boutique experience. Unlike so many others, we are not a wedding photography factory, churning through clients and providing them with an off the shelf, cookie-cutter service. We take the time to truly listen to our clients, understanding their vision and needs to ensure that everyone who trusts us to capture the magic of their wedding is blown away by both our images and our service.
