Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael W. Green.
Michael W., please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I actually got into acting on a bet me and a couple of my homeboys were watching a movie you know eating wings and pizza and the acting in it was horrible. So I told them I bet I can act better than that a buddy of mine said $20 bet because we bet on everything. He told me if you do start acting you will only get an extra role and to win it had to be a speaking role. Well I did some research and I found KD Studios I signed up and I was actually booked on my first project within a month of starting class. “Well let’s just say I won the bet….lol” from there I was traveling everywhere to do any kind of roles trying to get my feet into the door but mostly extra roles. I noticed that I wasn’t making enough money to cover the gas that I was spending driving to Austin, San Antonio, East Texas, and Houston just to be in a film as an extra. I had to reprocess on what is that I trying to accomplish. So I started working on my craft by taking jobs where I will have a speaking roles in like stage plays here locally in Dallas don’t get me wrong I still did plenty of extra roles in the process and I also started taking Master Workshop Classes when I could afford them… I start booking low budget short films extreme low budget actually and I started working on my craft of course I had plenty of people telling me that I suck I wasn’t good I can’t do it you should stop kill yourself. I mean I heard it all but that didn’t stop me from trying because the more that people told me that I couldn’t do it the more it fueled me to go and get it. Now I can’t lie I did it in the beginning to show people that I could make it and I think it’s just being human to want to show people or rub it in their face I told you I could do it. But no matter how Strong I pretended to be back then it eventually tears you down. So one day we were taking a break at class at KD Studios and my teacher at the time was Yvette Stone and I told her what I had been going through and how it was becoming emotional for me that people still can’t see the good in me and I’m trying to do this. She told me Michael no matter what job you do there always going to be people who’s going to say negative things about you don’t worry about those people you just stay focused and it will come in time. Those words right there gave me what I needed. I started doing modeling shows, Fitness magazines, industrial commercials I mean you name it I was doing it because I really enjoyed being on stage being in front of the camera learning this craft just being somebody different than Michael Green the guy with muscles because I knew there was a lot more to me than just that. I was signed with my first agent The Linicolm Agency after she saw me audition for a stage production. Saying to myself I have an agent now things are finally coming to a full circle. But I had to learn that just because you have an agent doesn’t stop you from constantly applying yourself going to classes taking workshops bettering yourself auditioning in front of the mirror . I was with Linicolm for many years. I booked Carter High as a supporting role starring Charles S Dutton and Vivica Fox. I felt things were really opening up for me then things slowed down and do to circumstances I had to part ways with the agency . I was feeling a certain type of way like is this really for me. I just didn’t know at that moment another agency was looking at me after my performance in Carter High and even though it was a small speaking role it got the attention of Linda McAlister Agency so I end up signing with her and am still with her today.
At first it was just a game to me all I wanted to do is win the bet. I wanted to prove I could do it and to win the money but by doing all that work to win $20 gave me such a passion that I tend to never give up on.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I was told I was to dark, to muscular, my nose was to big, I was not tall enough, You don’t have enough films under your belt for the role, all we will do is cast you as a thug or background extra, You need more training, I was told when I first started you suck as an actor, Why are you doing this just go be a personal trainer. Leave the movies to the people who invest in them self (Now this one made me think maybe I could do more to better myself as a filmmaker).
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mike GG Productions & M2gg Films story. Tell us more about the business.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck is a unique word. I don’t use luck but if I had to say I have had great moments in filming like booking SAG projects. I also have had bad LUCK moments booking a paid gig then and being told after it has been posted all over social media announcing the Cast and just re-cast me without telling me. This business is a great/awful type of business.
