Today we’d like to introduce you to Misty Rayson.
Hi Misty, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Empty nest syndrome was quickly approaching and my anxiety level was beginning to increase by the second. “How am I going to fill the void of parenthood now that my children are in college and not at home?” My husband, Chris, is a coach, my children have always been involved in sports and church, and my own school teaching responsibilities have kept me extremely busy for years! I prayed for protection and guidance as we began a new chapter in life.
As a 24-year veteran teacher, I have taught courses throughout my tenure in the areas of animation, audio-video production, commercial photography, and graphic design. I have always researched innovative techniques, ideas, products, etc. that will keep the “sparks” flying in the classroom. So, when I stumbled across the beautifully built, technology-rich photo booth, my interest was definitely peaked! To my research surprise, I found an industry that ignited a fire within me that allowed me to challenge my skills, learn new technologies, network across the globe, fill the void of time, and bring extreme joy to my face, but more importantly, the faces of others. After much discussion with my husband and even more research, we allowed our faith to take control as we birthed Rayson’s Creations Kaptured Memories, a photo booth out-of-this-world experience!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has not been easy, but it’s been “FUN”, and definitely worth it. There has been a lot of INVESTMENTS! To experience success, you do not just financially invest. You must also invest mentally, physically, emotionally, and let’s not even discuss the time investment. My greatest initial struggle was learning where and how to start. You don’t know what you don’t know. That’s when I learned to lean on others within the photo booth industry. I must say, our photo booth community are not just fellow boothers, but they are family. Their guidance has been needed and appreciated for the greater good of our industry. I have also invested time creating authentic experiences. It is important that our photo booth guests walk away feeling the excitement and the joy of the moment as well as with a tangible photo or digital boomerang that “Kaptured” a special moment.

Rayson’s Creations Kaptured Memories Photo Booth is a family-operated business based in Rockwall, Texas – dedicated to bringing an authentic photo experience to guests and families. We provide customized photographic (photo booth) experiences to match your budget for events, including but not limited to, weddings, corporate events, birthday parties, graduations, anniversaries, baby showers/reveals, proms, church events, quinceañeras, Greek life events, and more. When it comes to corporate events, Rayson’s Creations Kaptured Memories works with brands across Texas to curate unique photographic experiences to engage consumers, collect data and drive their business with user-generated content and vital marketing data.
Working with retailers, tourism and hospitality outlets across the state, we develop in-store photo activation campaigns to position the brand and raise online presence. The greatest feeling is when people walk away from the experience and say “I have not laughed like this in a long time” or when a couple who’s been married for 50+ years say “This is our first photo together in over 20 years!” These are memories for a lifetime. We don’t believe in just counting memories, but making memories count. The ultimate compliment is always when people refer or recommend us to others, give us an outstanding review on social media, and of course, when they schedule us again! We LOVE happy customers and clients.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
